Chapter 157: I am ready to try
"Come on love, I told you I was going to come today to see grandma and grandpa today." Ian replied back loud enough for the elders to hear but Mary was busy facepalming herself inwardly because she knew what the man was upto.
"Hehe... grandma, grandpa we’ll be going for a little walk." She spoke immediately pulling the man rushing towards the garden leaving grandma Huang busy clapping like a kid who had just received candy. "Ohh honey, young love.. sigh..." She said as she admiringly watched the two go to the garden unbothered.
"Come on Ian, what was that?" Mary asked once they got to the garden, glaring at the man who seemed not to be bothered by anything.
"Come down Mary, if I am to marry, I have to gain favour from your grandparents you know that our marriage is different darling." He replied back making the girl nod after realizing that he had good reasons for what he just did.
"I guess you are right but next time you have to inform me to avoid being suspected." Mary replied but Ian could detect some sadness in her voice.
"Are you okay Mary?" His voice was extremely low and gentle as he spoke making the girl look at him directly in the eyes as she shook her head.
"As much as I agreed to this marriage Ian, I will never have a normal life like everyone else, I will not be able to experience love the right way, I will not be able..." She continued to state her facts but Ian did not look away even for a second and maintained eye contact and upon realizing everything she was saying was the truth he felt some sense of pressure before proceeding to silence her.
"Sssh..relax Mary.." He said brushing her hair gently as he maintained eye contact. "Do you believe we might end up falling in love one day and that the offsprings we produce will be out of our love for each other?" He asked once again and Mary only shrugged her shoulders as she replied, "I don’t know Ian.. I don’t know..."
There was silence between them but both of them knew that the eye contact they were maintaining was communicating alot and that they were both saying something to each other just by the eye contact.
Ian slowly cut the eye contact before lifting her chin with one of his hands as the other one went behind her neck. Mary was not fazed nor did she move as she wanted to see what the guy was going to do.
