The Supreme Soldier in the City

Even when Melody Yoody arrived at the City Council, she still felt somewhat unsure, but when the organization handed her a transfer order, she finally believed it was real. For her, it felt like a dream. Not even the Yawk Family’s influence could have promoted her from Township Chief to Deputy County Chief so quickly, yet John Brown’s one phone call made it happen—what a miracle!

Since striking up with John Brown, Melody Yoody had been thinking of using her connections to push John into politics, letting him climb step by step. However, now she suddenly realized something: John Brown wasn’t incapable; he simply didn’t want to. Otherwise, with his ability to get her transferred so easily, he could arrange a good position for himself if he decided to enter politics. But he chose to be a security guard in a company instead.

Now Melody Yoody felt she really needed to get to know John Brown again. This man had changed so much; he was no longer the clueless youth he once was. Now he’s a deep man, and viewing him with her previous perspective was simply wrong.

Moreover, she had to admit, the current John Brown was a real man, a man of depth, a man that captivated her even more.

Now that she’s pregnant with John Brown’s child, they are inseparable. Even if John Brown already has a wife, she wouldn’t give up just like that. She wanted to keep this man by her side forever.

After finishing the handover at the township, she went to the county to do the same. However, one was handing over her work, and the other was taking on a new role. Although she wasn’t yet the executive Deputy County Chief and was ranked the lowest among the deputies, she was in charge of several important departments. Sitting in the spacious office, Melody Yoody took out her phone, browsed through the names, and finally dialed Gina Lopez.

"Mayor Johnson... Oh wait, I should call you County Magistrate Johnson now, congratulations." Gina Lopez started joking with Melody Yoody as soon as she answered.

Melody Yoody chuckled lightly and said, "Gina, even the big boss has time to joke with me. Without your man, how could I have become Deputy County Chief?"

"Haha, no need to be so polite; isn’t that what he should do?"

Melody Yoody really admired Gina Lopez, not because of the great success she achieved in business, where she believed she could easily match Gina. She admired Gina for knowing about Melody’s pregnancy with John Brown’s child yet still being able to chat and joke with her. This was something Melody Yoody couldn’t do.
