The Supreme Soldier in the City

Chapter 134: The Awesome Uncle

"Uncle, it hurts so much!" Charlotte cried, tears streaming down her face after James Brown had slapped her, yet she still clung tightly to him, refusing to let go.

"Are you not getting off because you want another slap?" James Brown said sternly, his face as dark as that of Bao Gong.

"No, even if you kill me, I won’t get off," Charlotte pouted stubbornly, tears in her eyes.

James remembered that rebelliousness was strong in girls of her age; if he kept on with the tough approach, she would definitely stand up to him. So he changed his tone to a softer one and said, "Do you want me to avoid you when I see you in the future?"

Charlotte pouted again, then muttered softly, "It’s your fault for being mean to people," and slowly hopped down.

James finally felt a bit relieved and then said to Sarah Grandy, "Sarah, let’s go."

Sarah Grandy nodded, not upset by Charlotte’s impulsive reaction. If she had been Charlotte’s age, she probably would have reacted the same way. Seeing Charlotte was like looking at herself six or seven years ago, so instead of annoyance, she actually felt a sense of closeness.

Just as James wanted to leave, Charlotte hadn’t objected, but the gangsters he had hit were not having it. They got up and blocked James’s path. They didn’t attack him directly, but one of them said menacingly, "Kid, don’t think you’re something special just because you can fight. Do you know who we are with?"

"Whose people are you?" James squinted and asked.

The thug lifted his head proudly and said, "We’re Brother Bob’s people. You’re in big trouble for hitting us." It seemed that mentioning Brother Bob gave him infinite courage, and he no longer saw James as a threat.

At that moment, people in the bar gasped and then looked at James with sympathy.
