Chapter 85 The Same Attitude
Emma Campbell had been deeply immersed in her heroic fantasies about James Brown, and she was particularly enamored with the feeling of being held in his embrace. Even when Sarah Grandy showed up, Emma remained in a dazed state, never considering letting go of James. However, Sarah’s questioning finally snapped Emma back to reality. She swiftly and subconsciously released James, looking toward Sarah in panic.
Feeling that things would get very complicated if Sarah Grandy clung to him, James had an idea. He extended his arm and wrapped it around Emma again, saying, "She’s my girlfriend, Emma Campbell. Sarah, you should be calling her ’auntie.’"
"Auntie..." Emma felt a surge of mixed emotions. How old was she to be called ’auntie’? Yet, the sweetness overpowered her initial shock — had James Brown just acknowledged her as his girlfriend? Did this mean he had accepted her? Her heart raced like a startled deer, her face so red she thought blood might drip from it, her legs going weak and limp as she leaned into James’s embrace.
Sarah Grandy’s eyes widened, brimming with anger and hurt, as she sized Emma up and down before snapping, "You’re lying to me. She’s not your girlfriend."
James Brown flashed a smile and replied, "If she wasn’t my girlfriend, would I be holding her like this?"
"That doesn’t prove anything. She’s not right for you," Sarah said firmly, shaking her head.
James turned his head and gently kissed Emma on the cheek, asking, "Do you believe me now?"
"I don’t!" Sarah’s eyes burned with even more fury, yet she still shook her head.
James rolled his eyes and said, "Whether you believe it or not, we’re going home now." Then he walked past Sarah, holding onto Emma.
Sarah quickly followed, grabbing onto James’s other arm and pleading loudly, "Big Brother, don’t lie to me. She’s clearly not your girlfriend. What if I become your girlfriend instead?"
"Stop messing around," James said, breaking into a sweat. Kids these days were just too bold.
