Chapter 651: Alex’s Proposal
Without hesitation, Alex made his move.
Soon afterward, Lucy, her mother, and Henry were quietly relocated to a distant city far away from everyone they knew.
Meanwhile, Lucy had secretly been preparing something much worse.
Using AI software, she had created several fabricated and compromising photographs involving Adeline and Adriana.
She had planned to release them online.
Unfortunately for her, she never got the chance.
One evening, as she was walking home alone, several bodyguards suddenly appeared.
Before she could even scream, a cloth covered her mouth.
Fear instantly flooded her body. "What are you doing?"
Her terrified voice was muffled.
Nobody answered. Moments later, she was thrown into the back of a truck.
Even until the day she was transported far away, Lucy never learned who had orchestrated everything.
The only thing she knew was that she deeply regretted crossing paths with Adeline.
Meanwhile, completely unaware that Alex had already solved the problem, Adeline was standing in front of a mirror.
Today was special.
Alex had invited her to meet him at one of the most luxurious restaurants in the city, Lamour.
After getting ready, she carefully examined herself in the mirror.
Tonight, she was wearing a stunning blue strapless gown.
The dress hugged her figure perfectly before flowing elegantly down to her ankles.
It was a birthday gift Aurora had personally given her.
The design itself had been specially created by Adriana.
Every stitch carried the love and care of the people closest to her.
Looking at herself, Adeline couldn’t help but feel excited.
Her heart beat slightly faster. Taking a deep breath, she calmed herself before leaving.
Soon, she arrived at Lamour. The moment she entered, she froze.
The restaurant was completely empty. There wasn’t a single customer in sight.
’Did I come to the wrong place?’
Just as she was wondering, a familiar figure appeared.
It was Alex. He was wearing a dark blue suit.
The color almost perfectly matched her gown. For a moment, Adeline’s heart skipped a beat.
She couldn’t help but stare. Alex looked exceptionally handsome tonight.
Meanwhile, Alex couldn’t take his eyes off her either.
She looked breathtaking. Like a princess who had stepped out of a fairy tale.
Slowly, he walked toward her. Then he gently led her to a beautifully decorated dining table.
Once they were seated, Alex clapped his hands. Immediately, several covered dishes were brought out.
The lids were lifted one after another. Adeline’s eyes widened.
Every single dish was her favorite.
Unable to resist, she picked up a spoon and tasted one of them.
The moment the food touched her tongue, she froze. Her eyes widened.
She looked at Alex in disbelief. "You made this?"
Alex smiled proudly. "Of course."
His eyes softened. "I spent nearly an hour preparing it."
He chuckled.
"Thank goodness you arrived on time. Otherwise, everything would have gone cold, and I would have had to cook it all over again."
A warm feeling spread through Adeline’s chest.
She felt incredibly touched. "Thank you."
Her voice was soft.
Then she reached into her bag and carefully pulled out a gift box wrapped in elegant paper.
"This is for you."
Alex’s eyes instantly lit up. Curiosity flashed across his face.
He immediately reached toward the box. However, Adeline quickly slapped his hand away.
"Not now."
Alex laughed. "Alright."
Then he looked at her seriously. The playful smile gradually disappeared.
His heart began pounding heavily inside his chest. "Adeline."
She looked up. "What is it?"
Alex took a deep breath.
Then, before she could react, he stood up and slowly knelt on one knee.
Adeline froze. Her heart almost stopped.
Alex pulled out a small ring box. The box opened.
Inside were two beautiful rings. The sparkling diamonds reflected the restaurant lights.
Everything seemed unreal, like a dream. Like something straight out of a fairy tale.
Adeline’s eyes widened. Her breathing became uneven.
For several seconds, she could only stare. Meanwhile, Alex nervously extended his hand.
"Adeline."
His voice carried emotions he rarely showed. "Will you become my fiancée?"
Tears instantly gathered in Adeline’s eyes. A bright smile appeared on her face.
Without hesitation, she nodded. "Yes."
Her answer came immediately. "Of course I will."
Alex’s entire body relaxed. Joy flooded his heart.
However, just as he was about to place the ring on her finger, Adeline suddenly stopped him. "Wait."
Alex blinked. "What happened?"
A mischievous smile appeared on Adeline’s face.
"Why don’t you open the gift first?"
Hearing those words, Alex’s heart skipped a beat. A strange feeling suddenly appeared inside him.
Quickly, he opened the gift box. The moment he looked inside, he froze.
There was a wallet. A watch. A tie. And most importantly... a ring.
For several seconds, neither of them spoke.
Then realization struck Alex. His eyes widened in disbelief.
He looked up at Adeline.
Meanwhile, Adeline’s face had already turned completely red.
Clearly, she had been planning the exact same thing all along.
The ring looked exactly like an engagement ring.
Alex couldn’t help but stare at it.
The silver band gleamed softly under the warm lights of the restaurant, and the intricate design immediately caught his attention.
For some reason, it felt incredibly familiar. He frowned slightly.
’Why does this design look so familiar?’
Before he could think any further, Adeline suddenly gasped. "Oh my God!"
Her eyes widened in shock as she looked at the ring Alex had just slipped onto her finger.
Then she quickly looked down at the ring inside the gift box she had prepared for him.
For a moment, silence filled the room. Then both of them turned toward each other simultaneously.
Their eyes met. The realization hit them at the exact same moment.
Both of them burst into laughter. "Adriana!"
Adeline covered her mouth while laughing. Alex shook his head helplessly. "So that’s what happened."
Both of them had secretly commissioned Adriana to design a ring.
Neither of them had informed the other.
However, Adriana had somehow managed to create two matching rings.
If someone examined them closely, they would notice that although the rings were different, their patterns perfectly complemented one another.
One ring carried a flowing moon-like pattern while the other possessed a matching sun-like design.
Separately, they were beautiful. Together they became complete.
Almost as if they were two halves of the same whole. Just like the people who wore them.
Alex carefully took out Adeline’s ring from the gift box. Then he gently placed it onto his own finger.
Adeline couldn’t help smiling. The happiness in her heart felt so overwhelming that she almost wanted to cry.
After a while, Alex suddenly stood up and extended his hand toward her. "Come with me."
Adeline blinked in confusion. "Where?"
A mysterious smile appeared on Alex’s face. "You’ll see."
Although puzzled, Adeline placed her hand in his. His palm felt warm and comforting.
Soon, Alex led her out of the restaurant and toward a private hallway. After several turns, they stopped in front of a luxurious dressing room.
Before Adeline could ask anything, Alex opened the door. The moment she stepped inside, she froze.
Aurora. Adriana. Olivia. All three women were standing inside waiting for her.
For a moment, Adeline was completely stunned. "What are you all doing here?"
Before anyone could answer, Alex gently pushed her inside. Then he smiled. "Good luck."
The next second, the door closed behind him. Adeline stared at the closed door with an awkward smile.
"Your brother is becoming more and more mysterious."
The moment she finished speaking, Aurora and Olivia immediately grabbed her arms.
"There is no time!"
"We need to get you ready!"
Before Adeline could react, she was pulled deeper into the dressing room. Soon, Adriana presented two beautiful gowns before her.
One was an elegant white dress. The other was a breathtaking champagne-colored gown. Both dresses looked exquisite.
After the proposal, however, Adeline only hesitated for a second before choosing the champagne-colored one.
The moment she changed into it, she froze in front of the mirror. The gown fit her perfectly.
The fabric wrapped around her waist beautifully before flowing gracefully downward.
The neckline elegantly framed her shoulders while revealing just enough cleavage to appear attractive without looking excessive.
For a long moment, Adeline simply stared.
Her eyes gradually became moist. Truthfully, her biggest insecurity had always been her chest.
That was why she rarely wore low-neck dresses, strapless outfits, or anything that drew attention to her figure.
She always felt that she wasn’t feminine enough. But today was different.
The dress seemed almost magical. It accentuated all of her strengths while hiding every insecurity.
For the first time in a very long while, she felt genuinely beautiful. A bright smile slowly appeared on her face.
Turning around, she looked at Adriana. "Thank you."
Her voice trembled slightly. "Thank you so much, Adriana."
She lowered her gaze. "This is one of the most beautiful gifts anyone has ever given me."
Before she could continue, Adriana quickly interrupted her. "Don’t thank me."
She smiled warmly. "If you’re happy, then that’s enough."
Soon afterward, Aurora stepped forward carrying several hair extensions and accessories.
Together, the three women carefully helped Adeline prepare. Everything was arranged flawlessly.
