Knowing that his time was almost up, Neil requested to see Mira one final time.
When Mira heard about his condition, she immediately agreed.

She looked up. "Take care of yourself."

A faint smile appeared on Neil’s face. A genuine smile.
Perhaps for the first time in many years, he felt truly at peace.
The next morning, he quietly closed his eyes forever.
As Mira watched his breathing gradually stop, a suffocating pain spread throughout her chest.
Tears streamed down her face.
She reached out and gently held his cold hand. "Rest in peace, Uncle."
Her voice was barely above a whisper.
Mira personally handled all of the funeral arrangements.
The Waters Family remained by her side throughout the entire process.

As she bid farewell to one of the last relatives she held dear, she cried bitterly.

"How dare you talk to me like that?"

"Do you think you’re superior to me just because you broke off your engagement with my brother? You know what? You should compensate me!"
Before Lucy could continue, Adeline suddenly chuckled.
"Why don’t we call the manager right now?"

Her confidence vanished without a trace. "No, no, no."
She hurriedly shook her head.
"Wait. I understand. It was my mistake. I won’t say anything else."
Seeing her retreat so quickly, Mira couldn’t help but laugh.
"By the way, I really don’t understand where you got the confidence to come here and demand compensation from us."

"How can you say that?"

She looked at Lucy calmly. "Lucy, even without my intervention, sooner or later Adriana would have realized what kind of person your brother really was."
Her voice was cold and firm. "So don’t stand here and act as if Adriana or I ruined your brother’s life."
She folded her arms. "Your brother ruined his own life."
"Everything that happened was the result of his own actions."
Adeline eyes narrowed slightly. "And stop talking as if I belonged to him."
Lucy bit her lip. Inside, she sneered.
’Of course she’s going to say that. Who would admit otherwise?’
Although resentment filled her heart, she dared not show it openly.
After all, she had already suffered enough losses. Lowering her head, she forced herself to appear submissive. "Alright."
Her voice sounded pitiful. "I won’t disturb you anymore."
She slightly bowed. "Please don’t take any action against me."

As Lucy walked away, Adeline quietly looked at Mira.

"You shouldn’t underestimate people like her."

"People like us usually stay within our own circles."
She glanced around the bustling shopping mall.
"But cleaners, drivers, workers, and people at the bottom of society often know far more than we realize."
Her voice lowered.
"They interact with all kinds of people every day. They hear things. They know things."
A thoughtful look crossed her face.
"Some of them even have connections to people that ordinary businessmen would never meet."
Mira gradually became serious.
She understood what Adeline was implying.
"As long as enough money is offered, there will always be people willing to take risks."
Adeline sighed. "I’ve seen enough of society to understand that."
The more she thought about Lucy, the more uneasy she felt. Meanwhile, not far away, Lucy’s eyes were filled with hatred.
Although her face remained lowered, her thoughts were anything but peaceful.

Back at the mall, Adeline immediately took out her phone and called Alex. After hearing everything that had happened, Alex’s expression turned cold.
His voice remained gentle only because he was speaking to Adeline. "You don’t need to worry."
His tone was calm. "I’ll take care of everything."
Hearing those words, Adeline finally relaxed. "Alright."
She trusted Alex completely. After ending the call, she completely forgot about the matter.
However, Alex had no intention of treating it lightly. In his previous life, he might have shown mercy.
He might have been soft-hearted. But things were different now.
Lucy had not only offended Adeline. She had also targeted Adriana.
