Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System

Chapter 645: Gwen And Mira

The next morning, Mira returned to the university.

However, the moment she entered the university grounds, she spotted a familiar figure standing near the entrance.

Mr. Davis. The moment she saw him, her expression became cold.

However, she quickly noticed something strange.

Compared to the previous times when he had been overflowing with arrogance and confidence, the current Mr. Davis looked completely different.

His clothes were wrinkled. Dark circles surrounded his eyes.

Most importantly... There was fear in his eyes. The moment he spotted Mira, he hurried toward her.

Then, before she could react, he knelt. Right there, in front of everyone. Mira froze.

The surrounding students immediately turned toward them. Whispers started spreading through the crowd.

"What is happening? Why is he kneeling? Who is that man?"

Mira stared at him in complete confusion.

She had assumed he was here to threaten her again. She had never expected this.

Meanwhile, Mr. Davis grabbed his own hands nervously.

His entire body trembled. "It was my mistake."

His voice cracked. "I understand now. Please let me go."

Tears streamed down his face.

"I’m sorry. Please forgive me."

His crying was ugly and desperate. The arrogance that once defined him had completely disappeared.

Mira frowned. "What are you talking about?"

Mr. Davis immediately looked up. His eyes were filled with panic. "Don’t pretend you don’t know."

His voice trembled. "I know it was you. You were the one who reported me. Please."

He crawled slightly closer.

"Take back the report. I’ll do anything. Anything you want."

As he spoke, regret consumed him. At that moment, he truly hated himself for ever listening to Gwen.

If he had simply left Mira alone, none of this would have happened.

Now his life was completely ruined. Meanwhile, Mira remained confused.

She was just about to ask him what he meant... when several police officers suddenly appeared.

The officers walked directly toward Mr. Davis. Without hesitation, they grabbed him.

Click. The handcuffs locked around his wrists. Mr. Davis immediately struggled.

"No! Wait! Please!"

His face became even paler. Unfortunately for him, nobody cared.

The officers had more than enough evidence against him. As they dragged him away, he desperately turned toward Mira.

His eyes were filled with hope.

"Mira! Please help me! Mira!"

However, Mira simply looked at him calmly.

Then she turned around. Without saying a single word, she walked into the university.

Mr. Davis’s desperate screams gradually faded behind her. Yet throughout the entire morning, she couldn’t focus.

Her mind remained filled with confusion.

’What exactly happened? Why was he arrested? What report was he talking about?’

The questions continued circulating in her head. Finally, after all of her lectures ended, she took out her phone.

Without hesitation, she called Aurora. The call connected almost immediately.

"Aurora."

Mira took a deep breath. "Tell me honestly."

A brief pause followed. "Were you responsible for Mr. Davis’s current situation?"

On the other end of the phone, Aurora chuckled. "You really are smart."

There was no attempt to hide it. "It was indeed me."

Mira lowered her gaze. A complicated emotion filled her heart. Eventually, she whispered softly,

"Thank you."

Aurora laughed. "Don’t thank me yet."

Her tone became more serious. "There’s something else I think you should see."

A moment later, several files arrived on Mira’s phone.

Confused, she opened them. As she began reading, her expression changed.

The more she read, the colder her face became. The files contained information about Gwen.

Every action Gwen had taken against her throughout the years.

Mira’s hands started trembling. Not because she was afraid.

Because she was angry.

For years, she had wondered why her life had been so difficult.

Why did every opportunity seem to disappear? Why would people who wanted to help her suddenly change their minds?

Why was she repeatedly pushed into misery?

Now she finally understood.

There had always been someone secretly pulling the strings. Gwen.

The woman had deliberately sabotaged her life.

Mira clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her skin.

Her chest rose and fell rapidly. At that moment, she made a decision.

She would confront Gwen.

Even though they weren’t related by blood.

Even though Gwen had never officially been her guardian.

The truth remained the same.

For many years, Gwen had interfered with her future.

And now... Mira wanted answers.

She wanted to know why.

Why would someone dedicate so much effort to destroying another person’s life.

Especially the life of a helpless child.

With determination filling her eyes, Mira closed the files.

Then she stood up.

In fact, when Gwen was finally willing to meet Mira at all, it was Aurora who had threatened Gwen, making it clear in a cold, unwavering tone,

"If you refuse to meet Mira, I’ll expose every dirty thing you’ve done until now."

While all of this was happening, Peter’s company was in the middle of accepting a major offer.

Even with a substantial amount of capital, he shouldn’t have been able to secure such an opportunity so easily.

However, because of the connections quietly supporting him from behind the scenes, doors that would have remained firmly shut for others opened without much resistance.

As a result, his company was listed within just half a year of being established.

The achievement stunned many people in the business world. Numerous investors began approaching him, eager to buy into the startup’s promising future.

Peter declined every single offer.

In fact, his friends had already spoken to him about becoming an investor herself.

However, the majority of the shares would ultimately go to Adriana.

It was Aurora’s way of ensuring that her sister would never again find herself in a vulnerable position where someone else could take away what rightfully belonged to her.

Peter had readily agreed. Truthfully, he had already planned to transfer thrity percent of the company’s shares to Adriana while keeping ten percent for himself.

That small percentage was meant to serve as a safeguard. If someone ever attempted to pull a scheme against the company, he would still have enough influence to protect it.

With Peter transferring thirty percent of his holdings to Adriana and the fifty percent Aurora had given her long ago, Adriana now owned eighty percent of the company Peter was running.

Peter, on the other hand, felt nothing but gratitude toward Ms. Dawn.

The kindness Adriana’s sister had shown him was something that even his own father would have hesitated to offer. Every time he thought about it, a warm feeling settled in his chest.

Meanwhile, the Richardson family were doing well. Their companies were stable, and business continued smoothly.

However, Mr. Richardson had stepped down from the position of CEO.

He no longer wished to remain in a business world that constantly reminded him of his failures.

The bitter realization haunted him day and night... that he had spent so much time chasing profit that he had neglected human emotions.

Worse, he had ignored his own son to such an extent that other people had eventually pushed the boy away as well.

After much contemplation, Richard Richardson chose retirement.

The company was handed over to his eldest son, who took charge of management. Unfortunately, a series of poor decisions eventually drove the business into bankruptcy.

Five years later, however, that would become a story for another time.

At that moment, Gwen looked at the young woman sitting across from her. Complex emotions churned within her heart like a storm she couldn’t calm.

This was the girl she had wronged more than anyone else in her entire life.

And she had done it intentionally. Yet now, as she looked at Mira, much of that guilt seemed to fade away.

Mira looked exactly like her mother.

Every glance at Mira felt like staring into the face of the woman who had stolen her husband. It was as though both mother and daughter had been born solely to take away the people she loved.

Taking a deep breath, Gwen folded her hands together and looked directly at Mira.

"I know you already know about my misdeeds," she said. "But I’ll say one thing. I let you survive. That’s the greatest mercy I can ever give you."

Hearing those words, Mira let out a quiet chuckle.

If this had been the old Mira, she might have cried. She might have stumbled over her words or hidden her pain behind an indifferent mask before walking away.

But this Mira was different. She was stronger.

"It wasn’t your mercy," Mira replied with a faint smile. "It was your guilt."

She leaned back in her chair.

"Not to mention, your decision to drive away a child from her uncle just so you could have a man all to yourself speaks volumes about your insecurity."

Gwen’s expression darkened.

"You don’t understand," she snapped. "One day, when you’re married, you’ll understand."

Mira laughed softly, amusement flickering in her eyes.

"No need to worry about me," she said. "If I ever end up with a husband who can’t even maintain proper boundaries after marriage, I’ll divorce him immediately."
