Chapter 104 - Eighty-Six

"So what do you have for us, John?" I lean forward to the screen to get a clear view of it.
John has agreed to help us with the matter with the traitor. He has recently come back from Ruth’s hometown with a ring on his finger. He said they got engaged there He seems really happy about the fact. He said that Ruth had proposed to him the night before New Year’s Eve and the next day they went out to buy a ring for him.
I can only picture how red and how happy John might be back then if he’s this happy now. I should have asked Joe for some pictures. Well, I don’t think getting pictures will be a problem as Leo says that he will get some from Aunt Augustha. Leo said that she is Ruth’s omega mother.
"Well, I have gotten a video." John drawls, his eyes flicking over Leo playfully for a beat, "I have a video of your uncle Jean, Leo."
The wrinkle between Leo’s brow deepens and his eyes narrow, "A video?"
I brought Leo with me since this matter connects him directly and he is the only person who can do anything about this at all.
"Yeah. Here." John plays a video on one of his screens and turns it slightly toward us, "Watch this."
There are two men in the video. One is clearly Jean and the other’s back is turned in the camera’s direction. The place is possibly in a slump because the environment around looks nothing like money and luxury. They are talking. No. They are arguing over something and Jean seems to be losing his temper gradually. He is looking pissed.
The other man seems to be trying to sell him something. A small packet is held in his bulky hand. There is some white content wrapped in a plastic bag. And the thing is seemingly a drug. And an expensive one over that because they are seeming to hold their fingers up as they argue. They must be bargaining over the prize or the quantity.
Suddenly another man enters the scene and his back is too turned to the camera. But for some reason, his silhouette seems too familiar but I can’t make out exactly who the person is. My eyes wander to Leo’s face who seems to be watching the video with a very grave intensity. The way his eyes dance when he looks at the silhouette makes it clear that he knows who the person is in the video.
