Chapter 45 - Thirty-Nine

"Steve listen, it is not like this," I point out the mistake Steve just made with my forefinger as I correct him, "it is like this."
Steve jerks his head up and down as determination flares in his black diamond eye. Not ready to give up just yet.
We have been at this for half an hour now and he still can’t get it right. He has been making the same mistake all this time. I am literally wasted at this point but this kid has incredible resolve to learn what I am teaching him even if he can’t make out the heads and tails of this shit. And since I have taken the job I will do it properly.
One week ago John summoned me and requested that I teach Steve since he is going to start his school very soon. As he is my best friend I just couldn’t turn him down, so all I could do is look over this little kid’s studies.
I know John can do this himself but that bastard really sucks at this kind of job. He doesn’t have the patience to teach a child. I am pretty sure if he had to correct Steve even half the time I already have, he might snap. So, he bestowed the right person the job. Even when we were in school, I had to keep John in his right mind when we studied together or he would occasionally snap.
Look at me now, once I handled the big brother and now I am handling the younger brother.
What a pain in my married ass...
Just then John walks in with a try decorated with snacks and drinks. And maybe this is the only reason I am here.
"So, how is the study going?" John asks the question randomly as he sets the tray down on the table.
