Chapter 305: Our Trap
Four days later,
’This was my last breakfast with Layla. I hope she forgets me soon. I will never appear before her and will protect her from the shadows,’ Lucius thought.
Layla flicked her fingers in front of Lucius’s eyes, bringing him to reality. "What are you thinking?" She stirred the spoon into the cereal bowl while looking into his eyes.
"That I am blessed to have you," Lucius said, leaning close to her and kissing her cheek.
"Then, say it loudly. Don’t just think," she murmured and brought the spoonful of cereal to her mouth. She noticed his smile wasn’t like the other days. It hid something in it, which she couldn’t decipher.
After finishing their breakfast, Layla asked Lucius, "Are you not going to the office today?"
"No. I don’t feel like working," Lucius replied.
"Hmm. Then, what will you do here alone?" she asked, taking slow sips. "I thought you loved spending time with me and would have followed me to the office."
"Then, I should follow you to the office," Lucius told her.
