Chapter 291: A young entrepreneur
"Layla, I hope I’m not a bother here," Demitri said as he took out a water bottle from the fridge.
"Not at all, Demitri. I am happy that you chose to tell Lucius about it," Layla asserted while making the pancakes.
"I was initially worried. I mean... He has you now. But then, I recalled how Matteo kept things from him and eventually, threw him in a tunnel which has no end," Demitri stated.
"I am sure Lucius will find his way out soon," Layla stated, placing the pancake on the plate, pouring the batter into the hot pan to make another.
"Will he?" Demitri sighed and opened the cap of the bottle. As he drank the water, he recalled the date his grandmother had fixed for him. "Layla, I need to go somewhere urgently," he said.
"Huh? Where?" Layla turned to look at him, turning the flame low.
"Grandma has set a date for me. I told her I would be there. But the place is a bit far from here, so I need to head out now. I won’t have the breakfast," Demitri said, putting the bottle on the counter.
"My bodyguard will accompany you," Lucius said from the door, and they both looked in his direction. "Hope you enjoy the date," he smirked.
"It’s just to keep my grandma’s heart and the uncle, who set it up," Demitri said. "Well, I’ll see you guys later," he asserted and left the kitchen.
Lucius gazed at Layla, who resumed making the last pancake. He walked to her and hugged her from behind.
"Let me do the work," Layla said, keeping a neutral expression on her face. She pushed him away using her elbow and went to the washbasin. She washed her hands and wiped them with the towel.
