Chapter 219: My phone, wife
Roderick knocked softly on the door of Layla and Lucius’s bedroom, his fingers nervously fidgeting as he waited for a response. Moments later, the door creaked open, revealing Lucius standing in the doorway, his expression calm but curious.
"Uncle, are you free?" Roderick asked hesitantly.
"Yes," Lucius replied simply, his sharp eyes studying his nephew.
"Who’s at the door?" Layla’s voice called from inside the room, breaking the brief silence.
"My nephew," Lucius replied, raising his voice just enough for her to hear. He turned back to Roderick and gestured for him to enter. "Come in."
Roderick hesitated for a moment before stepping inside, his posture stiff as Lucius followed him. Once the door was shut, Lucius turned to him. "What’s on your mind, Roderick?"
Roderick drew a deep breath to steady himself. "Tomorrow is Grandpa’s birthday, and I want it to be perfect. I need your help to make sure nothing goes wrong—no attacks, no disruptions. Please ask your men to tighten the security around the estate."
Lucius arched a brow. Before he could respond, Layla’s voice interrupted.
"How could you ask something like that from Lucius?" she said as she entered the room, her arms crossed over her chest and her eyes fixed on Roderick.
