"Layla, I’ve digitally signed the documents. Please review them at your convenience," she said, holding her phone on speaker as she leaned back in her chair.
"Of course. By the way, the client has specifically requested your presence at tonight’s dinner. I did mention that you might not be able to attend due to the recent incident, but he seemed quite insistent, pointing out that the same reason was given last time. If you’d prefer, I can decline again, but it might strain our relationship with him," Aiden explained in a professional yet a cautious tone.
Lucius, who had been silently observing from nearby, caught the entire exchange.
"Inform your client that Layla will attend the dinner. There’s no need for him to worry," Lucius interjected firmly.
Layla turned to him with wide eyes, silently questioning his abrupt decision with a pointed gesture.
"Good morning, Boss. It’s good to hear from you. I’ll pass along the message and ensure the client is reassured," Aiden replied.
"Hmm. Good," Lucius murmured, his intense gaze still fixed on Layla, a glimmer of amusement playing in his eyes.
"Boss, you didn’t answer your calls. Roger and I were genuinely worried about you," Aiden said, his concern evident over the phone.
"I’ve been... punished," Lucius replied with a faint smirk, the humor in his voice unmistakable.
