Chapter 182: My love for my boss
Layla wrapped her hands around the warm coffee mug, savoring the aroma of the got coffee Lucius had prepared. She took a slow sip, her lips curving into a soft smile as the rich flavor spread across her palate. "I feel refreshed," she murmured, setting the mug down momentarily to lean toward Lucius.
Her lips met his in a tender kiss, and Lucius instinctively cradled her neck with one hand, while his other hand rested on the countertop for support. He deepened the kiss before pulling away just enough to gaze into her eyes.
"I can’t seem to find any maids around today. Even Sarah is missing," Layla remarked, glancing around the unusually quiet kitchen.
"I gave them the day off," Lucius replied casually, sliding his hands into his pockets.
He picked up his own coffee mug and tilted his head to study her. "Are you sure you don’t want breakfast? I could whip up some pancakes for us," he offered.
Layla shook her head lightly, a hint of amusement playing on her lips. "I feel full," she replied, taking another sip of her coffee.
Lucius frowned slightly, his brows knitting in mild disapproval. "You’ve got work later. You shouldn’t leave on an empty stomach," he insisted, his tone laced with gentle persuasion.
Layla smiled at his concern. "My meeting is over lunch, actually. I’ll be joining Dad for something important. He mentioned it’s with someone significant, so I won’t be starving," she assured him.
"Alright, if you’re sure," Lucius relented, taking a seat on the counter stool beside her. They settled into a comfortable silence, sipping their coffee in solace.
