Chapter 162: Kissing your neck
Layla’s breath hitched as she entered the dining room, her eyes widening in astonishment. The main lights had been switched off, leaving the room bathed in the soft glow of candlelight, creating a romantic ambience.
"A candlelit dinner," Layla murmured as she turned to Lucius. He stood beside her, a small, knowing smile gracing his lips. With a gentlemanly flourish, he pulled out a chair for her.
"I wanted to make tonight special," Lucius said, his voice rich and sincere. "We’ve never had a moment like this—just the two of us, away from everything."
Layla’s heart fluttered at his words. She settled into the chair, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. Lucius gently pushed the chair in before circling the table to take his place across from her.
Layla’s fingers brushed against the delicate petals of the rose beside her plate. She lifted it, bringing it to her face, and closed her eyes as she inhaled its sweet, heady fragrance. A soft smile curved her lips, her heart swelling with warmth.
Across the table, Lucius uncorked the wine, the rich ruby liquid flowing gracefully into their glasses. She watched him with quiet admiration, the candlelight reflecting in his eyes, giving him an almost ethereal glow, especially because of the outfit he was in– a white satin shirt and loose white trousers.
As he set the bottle down, Layla picked up her glass, her gaze never leaving his. She took a slow sip, savoring the taste before placing the glass gently on the table.
"I love this," she murmured. Carefully, she placed the rose into the vase at the center of the table.
Lucius leaned back slightly, a satisfied smile playing on his lips. "Then let’s make it even better," he said warmly. "Shall we start eating?"
