Chapter 121: Releasing Frustration
Snow blurted out, forgetting her Master was in deep contemplation, "Zephyr and Aqua died, Master? What happened?"
Kaiju stared at her in a daze. When his eyes regained clarity, he sighed.
"To be honest, Aqua died an hour or two ago. Then, I received... felt the connection between me and Zephyr was severed, as well. They surely must have died."
Kaiju almost blurted out the existence of the Gacha System. It did not mean he did not trust Snow and Little Gorilla enough to reveal the latter, but it did not hurt to be cautious. Hence, Kaiju responded in a way that made it seem as though he could feel the connection between him and his pets, while ironically, he could not—barely now, after the Gacha System revealed it.
"Why—How?" Snow was lost for words.
Meanwhile, Little Gorilla clasped his hands and closed his eyes, mourning. Kaiju sighed and closed his eyes in silence, eventually convincing Snow to act the same.
Kaiju’s heart ached a bit, especially recalling his interactions with Aqua and Zephyr, knowing that they would now remain only in his memories.
Once Little Gorilla finished praying for Aqua and Zephyr, Snow irked to continue their conversation.
"Who do you think is responsible for this, Master? I mean, how did Aqua die if he was with Teacher Lucy? Even more so, how did Zephyr fall when there were already three accompanying him?"
"Yeah, it does not make sense." Kaiju sighed. He did not know when sighing had become an addictive response to any situation, but it was better than puffing cigarettes. He was simply exhausted.
"What I worry about the most is the situation with Qwanisha and the others. I would not be surprised if they had rather let Zephyr live."
