Chapter 1950: Don't Cry, Yuanen
"Don't cry, Yuanen; let me give it a try." Xie Xie's voice returned, and it seemed to have become a lot clearer.
His body then slowly began to take on substance right before Yuanen Yehui's astonished eyes.
She clasped her hands over her mouth as she appraised Xie Xie with an unblinking stare, as if she were afraid that any sound made by her would cause him to phase out of existence again.
Finally, Xie Xie's body returned to its original form, and he fell onto the ground with a thud as if he had just stumbled out of another world. He then rolled over and sat up, and he was looking very pale and exhausted, but the dagger embedded into his chest had disappeared.
"Ow, that really hurt! Thank heavens I was able to wrench my body out of that space. Yuanen, it was your voice that gave me the will to return to life; thank you for saving me!"
Xie Xie rushed over to Yuanen Yehui and caught her in an emotional embrace as he spoke.
Meanwhile, Yuanen Yehui sat on the spot with a blank expression, still reeling from the emotional rollercoaster she had just endured.
Xie Xie gently stroked her back in a soothing manner, and said, "I'm sorry for making you worry. This is the first time I've used this attack, and I didn't know this would be the outcome. Come on, let's go meet up with the others; I wonder how things are going for Lizhi and Zhengyu."
He rose up into the air with Yuanen Yehui in his arms as he spoke.
Only now did Yuanen Yehui return to her senses, and she turned to stare at Xie Xie with a blank expression.
For some reason, a chill ran down Xie Xie's spine at the sight of her stare, and he asked in a concerned manner, "What is it, Yuanen?"
Yuanen Yehui gently bit down on her lower lip, and asked, "That was just an act, wasn't it?"
"What? No, of course not! How could that be possible? I..."
"Stop." Xie Xie was frantically trying to explain himself, but Yuanen Yehui abruptly cut him off.
Xie Xie immediately felt as if he had been plunged into a glacial pit.
He had rehearsed that sequence countless times, and in his own opinion, his performance had been flawless! Furthermore, there really was a certain degree of danger at the time as his body really was being sucked away into another time and space; the only caveat was that this was a process that he could control.
He knew Yuanen Yehui's personality extremely well, and he knew that if his plan were to be exposed, then he would be in huge trouble.
However, much to his shock, Yuanen Yehui lowered her head, and said, "I'm sorry, Xie Xie."
Xie Xie faltered slightly upon hearing this.
"I'm sorry for piling so much pressure on you all this time. I paid no heed to your feelings, and you only resorted to something like this because of the pressure I exerted onto you. I know that my father has been constantly pressuring you as well, but in reality, he has already acknowledged you; he just doesn't want me to marry so early. My entire family and I have constantly burdened you with excessive pressure, and I promise that it won't happen in the future. A relationship is a precious thing between two people; it should never be such a one-sided affair. I apologize, Xie Xie."
She wound her arms around his body and rested her head against his chest as he spoke.
Never did Xie Xie think that this would happen, and he hurriedly tightened his embrace around Yuanen Yehui as a surge of blood rushed into his head. "There's nothing you have to apologize for; it's all my fault. I didn't want to do this, either, but I had no choice. I was so scared that everyone else would succeed in their proposals while I failed; I would be so depressed I could die! From now on, you're my wife, and I'll love and cherish you for the rest of my life!"
"You had no choice? So that really was just an act?" Yuanen Yehui raised her head again, and a hint of killing intent surfaced in her eyes.
"I, I..."
Xie Xie was stunned into silence for a few seconds before exclaiming, "I didn't think you were putting on an act as well, Yuanen!"
Yuanen Yehui slapped him on the head with an enraged expression. "Did you have fun playing me for a fool? Just you wait, Xie Xie; you're not getting off lightly for this!"
"I..." Xie Xie was on the verge of tears. Never did he think that he would be the one being played in the end.
"Hurry up! Where's everyone else? Are we going to keep them waiting?" Yuanen Yehui snapped.
Xie Xie faltered slightly upon hearing this before an ecstatic look appeared on his face, and he glanced down at the rings on Yuanen Yehui's fingers before asking, "Does, does that mean you accept my proposal?"
"I suppose," Yuanen Yehui sighed as she looked up into the sky.
"Haha, I love you!" Xie Xie twirled Yuanen Yehui around before rising up into the air.
The process had been extremely arduous, but the ending was a happy one!
At the center of the Sea God's Lake. As Xie Xie and Yuanen Yehui arrived on the canopy of the Eternal Tree, they were immediately basked in the rich life energy permeating throughout the area.
At this point, there was already a large gathering on the canopy, as well as a big screen.
Yue Zhengyu was holding hands with Xu Xiaoyan, as were Xu Lizhi and Ye Xinglan, and aside from them, all of the powerful beings of Shrek Academy and the Tang Sect at or above the Titled Douluo level were present, including Chen Xinjie, Long Yeyue, Zang Xin, Cao Dezhi, Lan Muzi, Tang Yinmeng, A'Ruheng, and Sima Jinchi, and all of them wore cheerful expressions.
Even the seven old demons were present.
The incredibly rich life energy being released by the Eternal Tree still wasn't enough to resurrect them into humans, but their energy had been significantly enhanced, so they could leave the Seven Saint Paradise temporarily without any issues.
Xie Xie immediately caught sight of Yuanen Tiandang, who was wearing a rather displeased expression.
Yuanen Tiandang had been called over by Yuanen Zhentian, and only then was he made aware of this proposal ceremony. Looking at the rings on his daughter's hands, Yuanen Tiandang couldn't help but give a cold harrumph.

Long Yeyue cleared her throat, and declared, "Everyone, we are all gathered here today to bear witness to the coming together of these wonderful children."
Everyone's attention was immediately drawn to her, and she cast her gaze toward Shrek's Six Monsters as she said, "Looks like all of you have succeeded in your proposals. As your teacher, I'm very happy for you all. In the wake of the unprecedented disaster that befell our Shrek Academy, it was you who had stepped up to return Shrek Academy to its former glory. All of your contributions will be immortalized in our academy's historical records, and in the history of the academy, only Sea God Tang San and the Spirit Ice Douluo's generations of Shrek's Seven Monsters can compare with your generation.
"This is a fantastic day for all of you, and I congratulate you on behalf of the academy."
The three couples arranged themselves into a row before extending respectful bows toward Long Yeyue. "Thank you, Elder Long."
Long Yeyue smiled, and said, "We should be the ones thanking you; it's exactly because of your excellence that we're able to take early retirements! Haha!
