Monster Tamer is the Worst Class

Chapter 45: Something... deeper

The central temple of the cursed city pulsed with a dense energy, as if the very air were laden with unspoken intentions. The stone columns, carved with runes that glowed in shades of amethyst, cast sinuous shadows that danced across the uneven floor.

In the center of the hall, Eren stood, his heart beating steadily, but his mind alert.

Around him, Kaela, Morwynn, and Nyssa formed an instinctive circle of protection, their eyes fixed on Sylha, the entity hovering before them, floating like a mirage.

Sylha was no longer the ethereal and serene figure who had led them there. Her true form, a multidimensional being of translucent tentacles and eyes that shone like constellations, seemed to warp the reality around her.

Her voice, a symphony of tones echoing inside and outside the mind, whispered promises that made Eren’s skin prickle.

"You have come so far, Tamer," she murmured, her tentacles undulating like veils of smoke. "But what do you truly desire? Freedom? Power? Or something... deeper?"

Before Eren could respond, the air around them shifted. A warm, fragrant mist enveloped the hall, laden with a sweet aroma reminiscent of jasmine and embers.

The runes on the columns pulsed faster, and the ground beneath Eren’s feet seemed to vibrate, as if the temple itself were alive.

He felt a warmth rising through his chest, but his mind remained sharp, slicing through the mist like a blade. Something was wrong.

Sylha was not just there to fight — she was manipulating the battlefield.

Kaela was the first to react.

Her golden eyes, usually fierce, shone with something beyond fury. She turned to Eren, the muscles of her defined arms tense beneath the skin, the black fur of her werewolf form glistening like polished ebony.
