Chapter 274: Deployment
A few hours later...
Leonard’s Palace
"She did what?!" Spencer’s eyes flared up. The wrinkles in his face seemed more visible than ever.
"The two of them indeed shared an intimate moment in a random room." One of the Shadow Guards knelt on one knee and relayed the news. "We have blocked all possible channels that could spread the news."
"Ugh, that scheming woman." Spencer paced around the room. He knew Eleanor was up to no good, and his intuition was right.
How dare she kiss the Crown Prince!
’Could it be that the Crown Prince is feeling the heat of an adult young man?’ Spencer pursed his lips and wondered if he should find some women to entertain him well.
"The Crown Prince had taken over Velastra and basically locked down the brothel. There are also some women there working for him. Should I have some of them be transported over to be bed warmers?" Spencer wondered aloud.
The Shadow Guards remained silent. They were not in any position to make decisions for the Crown Prince.
"You and your dirty mind need to stop." Thankfully, they were spared from the decision when another person arrived.
He was none other than Seth, the Librarian.
Seth’s arrival enabled the Shadow Guards to take their exit and flee the scene.
"What dirty mind?" Spencer didn’t appreciate the remarks. "This is for the Crown Prince’s health. He is the Lady’s only son."
"Even so, it’s not for us to decide whether he should embrace them or not," Seth warned softly. "If the Crown Prince desires them, then we should act. Otherwise, don’t do anything unnecessary."
"Tsk, talking to you is like talking to a wall. All you have are those words in a thick textbook." Spencer rolled his eyes and snorted. He was the only one thinking about the future.
Only when the Crown Prince had numerous descendants would he be reassured that the Lawson Bloodline remained intact.
As for the status of the women, Spencer couldn’t be bothered as long as the Crown Prince approved them.
"You’re hopeless." Seth furrowed his brows. "The princess kissed the Crown Prince because of the seal."
"That’s just the secondary. She was literally using her tongue to twirl with the Crown Prince. Her main objective was clearly the Crown Prince’s body and then tie him down to a political war in Xundraeth!" Spencer argued.
"She doesn’t need him for political war." Seth rolled his eyes. It was like talking to a wall.
"Anyway, I didn’t come here to discuss this issue." He changed the topic and brought over a document to him. "Our people who had been deployed at Black Mire went missing."
"The Black Mire? How could that be possible?" Spencer was alarmed.
"Could it be the work of the dark elves?"
A few seconds later, Spencer shook his head and rejected the notion.
An order had been made to avoid any form of conflict with the dark elves.
There was no way the Crimson Guards would disobey the order.
"Who knows?" Seth shrugged. "The Crown Prince intends to go to the Black Mire, so this is a good chance."
"Good chance my magic spell!" Spencer rolled his eyes. The Crown Prince was their sole reason for existence.
If anything came to harm him, then what were they supposed to do?
"This is why I said you’re too impulsive for someone of your stature." Seth took a deep breath. "The seal that the princess granted the Crown Prince was a safety charm in itself. Your eyes are just blind from old age and cannot see it."
"Who are you calling old?"
"Sorry, I meant expired ashes."
"..."
As the two concluded their conversation on a bad note, Leonard remained unaware of their interaction and had just finished applying for a deployment leave.
"I’m sorry, what?" The Administration Office Receptionist glanced at the paper form and raised an eyebrow.
She was flabbergasted by the form. She thought he was playing a prank on her.
The first class hadn’t even started, and a student was already trying to apply to leave—that too with the deployment as an excuse.
What a joke that was!
The only possibility for this to happen was if the student received an S evaluation in the aptitude test.
But even then, the chance of a student applying to leave was low, abysmally low.
After all, there was no way a student traveled from afar to the Aldros Empire, only to request to leave.
’Wait a second...’ Suddenly, the receptionist raised their head and glanced at the student. The only reason why a student was desperate to leave was if they had lived in the Aldros Empire their whole life.
Sure enough, she felt as if her life had flashed by her when she saw the face of the applicant.
’T-The Crown Prince!!!’ The receptionist lost at least 15 years of her beauty and youth when she realized their identity.
"I wish to be deployed to the Black Mire," Leonard said calmly.
"The Black Mire is it?" The receptionist smiled awkwardly and hurriedly glanced at the map. Once she realized how far the Black Mire was and the danger in it, she wanted to cry.
Her back was soaked with sweat from fear. If she really approved the deployment and the Crown Prince met with any mishap, she wouldn’t be the only one dying. Her family and everyone who was close to her would die alongside her.
In fact, death might be mercy.
"Sorry, we do not accept any deployment forms at the moment." She quickly thought up an excuse and replied.
"Hmm, is that so?" Leonard frowned a bit.
"Maybe I should report to the Principal and inquire if that is true. If it is, then I’ll apologize. Otherwise, I’ll be back again." He continued, laying a very subtle but direct threat.
It would be fine if the excuse was valid, but if discovered to be falsified, then she would have committed the crime of deceiving a royal prince.
To deceive royalty was equivalent to treason.
’Why me?’ The receptionist sweated profusely.
