Chapter 265: A Mask For Equality
A few minutes went by, and Leonard began to take off his uniform.
His action startled Amelia slightly, her eyes subconsciously shifting to the ordinary uniform by the bed.
’It can’t be, right?’ Amelia was worried that the Crown Prince really intended to cause a scene at the Imperial Aldros Academy.
"Crown Prince—"
"Bring the uniform over to me." Before she could speak her words, Leonard interrupted her.
"And you can relax your nerves. I have no intention of being lowkey. I just want to see if this so-called equality is in motion or just figurative speech."
Amelia could only exhale softly and adhere to the command.
She was confused by his adamant stance on equality, but didn’t raise any questions.
She was a servant, and no servant could ever question their Master in this society.
Sometime later, Leonard was fully clothed in the ordinary uniform.
"The quality didn’t seem to differ much on the surface, but I can already feel the difference internally." Leonard snickered. The protective measurements in the ordinary uniform were far inferior to those in the special uniform.
He shook his head in disappointment and turned to her.
"Amelia, wear the special uniform I took off."
"Huh?" She was startled by the order. "But that’s the Crown Prince’s uniform. This servant isn’t qualified to."
Upon hearing that, he mused, "Isn’t qualified, and not about doesn’t dare... That alone tells me you’re someone with a lot of pride and who knows how to adapt to the situation."
Amelia pursed her lips in response.
"No need to answer that. People without pride are just wooden puppets in their walking." Leonard said. He glanced at the windows and nodded.
"Let’s head to the carriage. We don’t want to be late to the welcome ceremony."
Amelia nodded and proceeded to wear the uniform. Afterward, she signaled the outside to get the carriage ready.
Needless to say, when the guards outside noticed the difference between the two in clothing, they were baffled.
How could a maid dress more luxuriously than the Young Master?
Alas, they were in no position to question Leonard’s action.
After all, it was painfully obvious that such an order was done by Leonard.
Otherwise, Amelia would never dare to dress in such a manner.
Sometime later, the two boarded the carriage.
Leonard lay comfortably on the couch, whereas Amelia held a vigilant expression.
She was ultimately still his personal servant and bodyguard. She dared not be relaxed in such a position.
"Ease your tension." Leonard suddenly said.
"You’re going to act like a refined noble once we arrive at the academy." He continued and retrieved a potion.
"Young Master?" She was instantly alarmed by the potion, granted that its appearance was no different than poison.
She wanted to stop him, but it was already too late.
He had chugged the whole thing down without hesitation.
Before she could even react, Leonard’s appearance began to change from his dignified appearance into that of an ordinary, poor young man.
"You were prepared all along?" Amelia was baffled. It was now evident that Leonard wasn’t being impulsive or childish.
He was seriously trying to disguise himself as some random poor student.
Why was that?
"I’ve promised Mirelle that I would grant her true equality within the academy. And this is the first step." Leonard coolly explained.
He could sense her doubt and skepticism toward his behavior.
Truthfully, this world was simply meant for his survival only. But as he progressed further and witnessed all these atrocities, he realized he couldn’t ignore them.
The death of innocent lives and people being used as pawns honestly disgusted him.
It was even worse than his old world because the laws in this world were extremely fragile.
Those who broke the law didn’t rely on financial power. Instead, they relied on their magical power and influence to do whatever they pleased.
Of course, he was also guilty of this because his influence as the Crown Prince of Aldros made him capable of doing whatever he wanted without any major consequences.
After all, even if the world collapsed on him, he still had many powerful backers—some visible and some hidden deeply.
Amelia began to look at Leonard in a new light. She didn’t think he would be lying because it would be easily exposed if he couldn’t keep up the play later on.
’Let’s see if he can actually pull through with it.’ As someone who hailed from a poor family and sold early on, she understood how difficult it was for the poor to attend a prestigious academy.
And even though she was sold, she never hated her parents.
At the very least, the place she was sold to was a place meant to nurture maids to be employed in rich households.
In other words, they were forced to sell her in hopes she could live better, as the living accommodations and food would be covered by the training place.
Time slowly passed by, and Leonard opened the curtain slightly to check the outside.
From there, he could see multiple carriages alongside students walking the streets.
At that moment, a class distinction was already made. Those who could arrive at the academy through carriages and those who had to walk on foot.
As if that wasn’t enough evidence, Leonard coincidentally spotted a poor female student being knocked away by some rich students in the carriage.
Not only did the rich students laugh, but they even taunted them to give up the academy and work hard on pleasing clients for a better future.
"Whose carriage is that from?" Leonard pointed at them and asked.
"That carriage has the Castellan Hudson flag." Amelia took a brief glance and replied right away.
"Castellan Hudson..." He muttered the name and narrowed his eyes slightly.
Indeed, even a mere Castellan could behave this haughtily.
"Mark this carriage down, including the people involved."
"Yes, Crown Prince."
Amelia’s eyes glinted in a cold light. She was totally ready to receive a job to eliminate some scum from this world.
Leonard was slightly taken aback by her change in demeanor. ’Hah, she’s really not just your average maid or servant.’
