Chapter 247: Where Shadows Stand
There had been numerous instances in which those accidentally or intentionally insulted Eleanor as a blind or crippled being were silenced afterward.
Although no concrete evidence could be pinpointed to Eleanor, everyone who wasn't a fool would know this was definitely related to her.
Since then, nobody had dared to call her blind or crippled. Or at the very least, they needed to have a certain degree of status or power to do so.
"They are ignorant but not punishable by death." Leonard softly said.
"Hoh, are you saying to spare them all?" Eleanor asked softly. There was no change in her facial complexion or body posture.
But Alfred from behind knew that things were about to go down.
'Is the Miss going to be angry with the Crown Prince?' Albert wondered silently, afraid of the possible outcomes. This was the Valdoria Continent, so making a move against the Crown Prince would be a grave situation.
While Alfred was silently terrified, Leonard simply chuckled and shook his head.
"Logan," he softly called out.
Soon, a portal emerged, and Logan stepped out as he went to his knee. His presence took nearly everyone by surprise.
Logan naturally ignored everyone and handed a list of documents to Leonard.
Within the list of documents were the crimes committed by these enforcement guards.
"Wow, framing a person to prison and snatching their wife. Getting money from a noble to escape the law judgment." Leonard snickered coldly.
"One of them is even more outrageous. Using an innocent person as the scapegoat of a murderer in exchange for a year of pleasure at Elarion's Paradise."
Elarion Paradise was essentially a high-class brothel, with many women being extremely talented and rarely offering their bodies. Still, there were some exceptions, such as the lower-class maids who were a tad inferior to the higher-class women.
And these so-called enforcement guards received this kind of benefit to enjoy the lower-class maids for nightly pleasures.
When Leonard continued to list out the crimes committed by them, the enforcement guards' faces had all gone ghastly white.
They knew their fate was sealed with that list in his hand. Hence, some of them decided to take drastic measures.
"Die, you incompetent Crown Prince!" One of them unsheathed their weapon and rushed toward Leonard. His actions also enticed the others who had committed the worst crimes to follow along.
"You dare?!" Curtis shouted in fury.
But before he could make a move, Logan had already vanished from his position.
Soon, flashes of light went by, and all those who had tried to attack Leonard were sliced into multiple pieces.
Blood and flesh were scattered across the ground.
The remaining enforcement guards trembled in horror at the sight. Such lightning-fast killing strikes were something they couldn't even detect until some of the blood and flesh fell onto them.
'How cute.' On the contrary, Eleanor mused inwardly at his attempt to warn her. It was clear that Logan was hiding in the shadows to protect Leonard.
There wasn't a need to beckon for Logan to reveal themselves in the first place. But he still did it to warn her of his means.
If that wasn't cute, then what was?
"Enforcement guards who dare to make a move against their master don't deserve a burial place." Eleanor smiled serenely and made a small slicing neck motion.
In that instant, a small and gentle breeze brushed past Leonard.
Although Leonard felt a warm sensation, he heard the sound of blood splurting outward from behind.
'Mana residue…' Leonard turned around slowly. The heads of the multiple enforcement guards were cleanly detached from their necks. Their faces were full of desperation and fear.
However, what made it haunting was their wide-open eyes, which showed that they didn't even know they had been eliminated already.
Was this her response to him in revealing Logan?
While Leonard had somewhat determined Eleanor's personality, Logan and Curtis were wary of her strength.
'How terrifying…' Curtis sweated profusely. The mana attack appeared very simplistic, but the control and accuracy were, in fact, extremely difficult to achieve.
'At least on the sixth circle level in terms of control.' Logan was more keen and precise when it came to killing. He could tell this wasn't Eleanor's maximum power. It was more like 10% or so, granted, how effortlessly the attack was done.
"You must be Logan, right?" Amidst his silent assumption, Eleanor suddenly spoke up and called him.
The atmosphere gradually turned tense when Eleanor turned her wheelchair toward Logan. Despite her eyes being covered by a blindfold, those nearby could discern that her eyes were dimmed with a slight killing intent.
In response to the situation, Logan kept his composure. He remained perfectly still, but his hand was on his weapon, seemingly ready to attack.
He was loyal to the Crown Prince, and not the Princess of Xundraeth Continent.
If the Crown Prince wished to punish him, then he could only endure silently. But if the Princess wished to do something to him, then he would retaliate.
Leonard noticed the situation was getting out of hand. He planned to step forward to defuse the tension, only for Curtis to subtly extend his hand.
"Crown Prince, if we interfere now, then things will get messy later on," Curtis whispered softly and explained that this was how things get resolved on their level.
Since Eleanor had revealed strength capable of matching or even overwhelming Logan, the latter must no longer treat them as some princess.
Instead, he must treat her as a dangerous opponent.
To simplify, this was their way to gauge each other's ability and have a better understanding.
"Is that so?" Leonard pondered and recalled that this kind of scenario was similar to how two people become friends after dueling each other.
Needless to say, these two probably wouldn't be friends after the battle. But at the very least, this was their chance to clear some doubts.
As Leonard shifted his attention to Eleanor, the latter began questioning Logan in a friendly tone.
"I've heard that Leon nearly got assassinated at Velastra. As a Shadow, where were you when that happened?"
