Chapter Hundred-Eighty-Five – Her Plan
Stefan sighed and raised the new reports that came. "I asked Silent River pack if the illness had reached them and while this wasn’t a direct reply from their leader, whoever wrote this meant that it hadn’t. In other words, this isn’t a seasonal illness and was something caused by our farms or something else."
He glanced at Sorren because he was the only one denying it being from the farms. Stefan couldn’t place if it was him trying to defend his beloved farms or if he truly thought that’s not where the problem came from.
"Please wake him up." He told Sigma. Sigma chuckled and gently rocked the Prince to wake.
Laurel narrowed her eyes at the report that came from Silent River. The Alpha said it hadn’t been a direct report from them but it conveyed the message.
What had happened that Sir Darren wasn’t able to write a reply himself? Had he travelled? Then did it mean something was actually going down at Damancas and High Moon Kingdom?
She reached for the letter but Baxter pulled it away from her. "It’s nothing of importance, Princess. The letter only gave a positive response."
Laurel took her hand back. If it’s nothing of importance than why couldn’t she just see it?
Stefan took it from Baxter and when Laurel had the faintest hope that’d he’d give it to her, he slid it under a pile of files and addressed Sorren. "You are sure that the farms have nothing to do with this?"
"They are innocent." Sorren said amidst yawns.
Stefan sighed, rubbing his temples. Again, he sounded like he was only trying to defend the plants and not because he thought the illness didn’t come from there.
"Did you change your fertilizer?" Laurel asked.
