Chapter 40. Death
Chapter Forty – Death
Laurel was sure the moon goddess surged strength into her as she felt energetic by morning. Was it compensation for how miserable her life was?
She washed her face, rushing out of the room. She could do her morning drills before taking a bath, because she was bound to sweat really bad.
Outside, the maids were whispering in a circle. Laurel couldn’t recognize anyone she knew so wanted to pass by, but they turned to her. "Good morning, Princess."
That was new. She nodded, "Good morning." Was this what Frida meant by the maids now looked up to her? It made her anxious. What if she messed up when they really needed her? Was she in a condition where anyone should look up to her?
"Your highness, it’s time to drop the laundry washed, at the main palace, but the ones responsible are too scared to go because the Alpha is back." A maid said.
The Alpha was back? Laurel remembered Sorren say that Stefan went on a date with his fiancée. She exhaled. "Can I come along then?" It seemed that’s what they asked for, even if she’d rather stay away from the palace.
The girls in charge, of dropping the laundry, came forward and bowed. "Thank you, your highness." The baskets they held were heavy so Laurel took one.
"No problem. I wanted a walk anyway. Let’s go." She headed to the entrance. The guards who’d attempt hurting Lisa were still on guard. They said nothing to the maids and opened the door.
Laurel noticed the girls breathe out in relief. Did the guard scare them? She slowed down as she wanted the girls to lead the way, but they remained behind her.
