Progenitor Vampire: I Have Many Skills!

Chapter 691: A notorious assassin

"I’m curious. What organization do you belong to? Throughout vampire territory, it’s difficult to find a group of assassins capable of matching our abilities." Maverick gave him a menacing look, while a torture dagger appeared in one of his hands.

Even so, the assassin at his feet simply gave him a threatening and provocative look before his chest exploded into pieces.

’Internal suicide with elephant tactics,’ Maverick thought, bending down to grab something from the assassin’s chest, from whom he couldn’t even extract any information.

’A true professional. No wonder he has this,’ he thought, looking at a special elephant needle with fire. In fact, he had to move away from the corpse because it caught fire after the internal explosion, precisely because of the needle.

It was one of the most common suicide tactics among high-level assassins, because it left no trace.

It was a shame, but he threw the needle on the ground and let it be consumed by the fire, while shaking his hand to extinguish the fire that was spreading across it and trying to consume him as well.

’You let me hit you, and that will be your mistake. Let me see who you are,’ he thought, looking into the distance where the other assassin had gone.

Immediately, his shadow disappeared, and so did he.

-

In an abandoned building on the outskirts of the city, five people, hidden in the shadows, began to talk.

"And 13?"

"He died."

"Who got him? How is it possible that one of our professional assassins died on such a simple mission?"

"I wonder the same thing."

"Bastard...!"

"So what?" One of the speakers snorted. "We were chased by a bastard with ridiculous speed; not only did he kill 13, but he also wounded me. And you guys were lost, looking for useless targets!"

"What useless targets?! They were..."

"Shut up." The voice of an older man who had been silent echoed among them. "Not only did one of us die and another get injured, but Seven lost his needle without even realizing it. Clearly, there is a very high-level professional among them."

"..."

"If you have nothing to say, I’ll tell you. It’s possibly this person."

In the middle of the meeting place, where no one could be seen, a scroll appeared, floating, with a perfectly drawn face on it.

"Isn’t he a commander of the city’s elite forces? I saw him earlier when we attacked an hour ago," said one of them.

"He is. They call him Maverick, and he’s the leader of the city’s elite forces."

"I understand he’s strong, but... he’s slow, sir. There’s no way it could be him; the one who chased us was extremely fast. So fast that our speed was child’s play!"

"What if I told you he’s an undercover assassin?"

"An assassin? With that kind of strength?"

"Some call him The Shadow," he replied.

"The Shadow?" All the assassins fell silent...

"From the Morgans?" one of them asked cautiously, the first to remember.

"My informants have told me that within the city’s elite forces, there is a man who only listens to the commands of the Elder Leader and a Foreigner. Rumor has it that he is the Perfect Assassin, Morgan’s Shadow... My suspicions put him in the spotlight."

"..."

Once again, this desolate place descended into silence.

While everything was calm and quiet, suddenly something happened in the middle of the room.

The scroll with the face was suddenly held up by someone.

"Maverick, The Shadow," he said, smiling.

"!"

The person in the middle looked around. "You’ve hit the nail on the head. I’m the one chasing you. Why don’t you stop hiding? You’re professional assassins, not sewer rats."

"!"

The alarm seemed to set off fires in the surrounding area, causing several figures hidden in the shadows to take several steps back and reveal their location.

His sudden appearance was surprising; none of them could sense him.

And that mistake would cost them dearly.

In Maverick’s hands glowed extremely small assassin’s weapons that flew from his hand in five different directions at absurd speeds.

Those weapons were meant to strike their victims in the neck...

CLANK*

CLANK*

CLANK*

"AGHHH-"

Muffled screams joined the sound of metal clashing against metal as one of the figures appeared, dressed in an assassin’s garb.

This person deflected three attacks, avoiding three deaths. But he wasn’t fast enough to avoid the other death, causing him to clench his fists in rage.

"Get out of here and leave him to me! Without this bastard hanging around, the targets are easy!" Roared the older man who had previously led the meeting between them.

His words were heard by the three he had managed to save, who immediately backed away and disappeared.

Maverick couldn’t help it, because he had found a strong opponent. Turning his back was not an option.

He stared intently at the man who had appeared.

His assassin’s outfit was eccentric. It resembled the attire of a homeless person; he wore rags that stuck out like feathers on a bird that had just faced danger and survived. Half of his face had a deep scar that seemed unable to heal, as fresh blood was still present.

This was no ordinary wound; it was a curse.

A powerful and dangerous aura rose up Maverick’s body.

"Cursed Face, Zhan," he said.

"Hmph." Zhan snorted in derision and stood before him.

Despite being an assassin, Zhan carried no daggers or needles; he carried a long, thin sword that could easily be camouflaged in the darkness.

"I didn’t think I’d ever have to face you, Morgan’s Shadow."

Maverick sneered, though he tightened his grip on his weapons.

"You’ve got a tough face, old man. The first time I saw you, you were in serious trouble against that guy. I thought you were dead."

"Hehe, things from the past are left in the past. Anyway, have you finally made up your mind? Back then, I told you that you could join us. Now that you see me here, do you understand our power? Why don’t you come here?" Zhan looked around.
