Chapter 264: Come into the Tent With Me
“Not qualified.” What did it even mean to be “qualified”? Celeste wasn’t trying to discourage Wofoo, but to prompt introspection. A wolf, not yet fully tamed, couldn’t be trusted around her master. She brushed past Wofoo, leaving the girl lost in thought, her silence easily outpaced by Adele and Celeste.
“Wofoo, hurry up~” Adele called out, her voice pulling Wofoo from her reverie. She quickened her pace, rejoining Adele and Celeste as they reached their campsite.
“I can’t let you do this, Celeste,” Adele said, a playful glint in her eyes. “You’ll burn down my tent.”
Celeste shrugged, acknowledging the truth in Adele’s words. Her affinity for fire magic was a double-edged sword, its power easily unleashed but difficult to control.
“Why build a tent, Master?” Celeste asked. “If you’re tired, we can rest anywhere.”
“There’s a reason,” Adele replied, her focus on weaving the branches and leaves together with magic, her side profile serene and beautiful in the flickering firelight. “I’ll tell you later.”
“I wonder if it’s big enough for all three of us,” Adele mused, her voice barely a whisper. “If not, you two can... sandwich me between you...” She blushed, her imagination conjuring up images that made her heart race.
“Done!” she announced, then turned to Celeste. “You first, Celeste. Come inside the tent with me.”
“Eh!?” Celeste, though confused, obeyed, following Adele into the makeshift shelter. Wofoo, left standing outside, felt a pang of loneliness.
Soon, their voices drifted out from the tent.
Adele: “Celeste, let me show you my big... little treasure!”
Celeste: “!?”
