Chapter 11: Ch 11: Good Bye to a sad end- Part 2
Selene was floating.
Somewhere in the darkness, she could hear a faint buzzing sound, like static on an old television screen.
It was distant at first, a dull hum that barely registered in her consciousness. But as time passed—if time even existed in this strange place—it grew louder.
Bzzz. Bzzz.
The sound crackled, breaking apart the silence around her. The world felt cold and hot at the same time. It lulled her into sleep and then woke her up rudely.
She wasn't sure if she was dreaming or awake. Her consciousness keep going in and our of focus.
In the midst of this all, she saw it.
A small flame flickered in the void before her. It was a soft orange at first, steady and warm, like the comforting glow of a candle. But something was happening to it.
Red was seeping into it, spreading like ink in water, consuming it from the inside out.
Selene stared, entranced.
She didn't know why, but something about the flame called to her. It was the same color as the core she held not too long ago.
