Chapter 58: Charlotte is Afraid
Damon clicked his tongue when he realized he was still surrounded by humans. Some pointed their cameras at him, while others couldn’t take their eyes off him.
If he went all out against the rogue werewolf, the council would no doubt lecture him for exposing his true power in front of humans. The last thing he needed was another tedious reprimand.
Exhaling sharply, he forced himself to hold back, pretending to struggle against the rogue werewolf—or what the humans probably saw as nothing more than a massive wild wolf.
The rogue werewolf lunged at him, claws slashing through the air in a desperate attempt to wound him.
Damon barely flinched, effortlessly dodging the attack. But before he could retaliate, the beast let out a guttural growl and bolted into the darkness, disappearing into the maze of the city streets.
Murmurs rippled through the crowd. Some gasped in awe, while others hurriedly checked their cameras, making sure they had captured the scene. Damon exhaled slowly, rolling his shoulders as if shaking off the tension.
"Did you see that?" someone whispered.
"What was that thing? A wolf? But it was huge!" another voice chimed in.
Damon paid no attention to the murmuring crowd. Pulling out his phone, he swiftly dialed Diana. There was no need for pleasantries.
"I broke a rogue werewolf’s leg. Send every werewolf nearby to track it down," he ordered, his voice calm but firm.
Before ending the call, he reminded his sister, "Don’t let it escape again."
