Chapter 42 - 41
ETHAN POV
The battle was getting bloody. These leeches were waiting for us. So they were prepared. Several wolves were down because of wolfsbane darts and we needed to protect them before the vampires could get to them. We couldn’t have the vampires feeding on them or even just biting them and turning them into hybrids. None of them wanted that.
One tried to attack me from the side but i swung around and grabbed that vampires in my mouth and shook so fiercely that I ripped him to pieces. One of the caravans exploded in the background and I looked over to see Bella was being surrounded.
I ran to her but one vampire got in the way of me and I couldn’t get around him. He lunged at me and I tried to get my mouth around him but he held my top and bottom jaw. He was trying to pull them apart and break my jaw. And he was strong. He was getting my jaw further and further apart while I was fighting against him. I shook my head trying to shake him off when he suddenly jumped on my back but kept his grip on my jaw.
I was trying so hard to stop him breaking my jaw when I heard a roar and then Kaylee jumped over the top of me taking that vampire with her in her mouth and bit him in half. She nodded at me and then took off to the next vampire.
I ran to Bella and I grabbed the vampire that was right in front of her and I threw him away and he crashed in to the side of a caravan with such force that it left a huge dint in the side of the caravan and almost knocked the caravan over. Bella then lunged at one of them and I went for the other one, both ripping them to pieces.
There had been no sign of Josiah and that’s who we were looking for. Angelo hadn’t been seen in the fight and I imagine that he was looking for Josiah. That was fine with me. We needed to get these vampires under control. They were outnumbered but they were still doing their best to stand their ground.
If they weren’t prepared for us then I’m sure that they would all be dead by now. But I saw Ruby grabbing the unconscious wolves back to the woods just past the town. She was getting them to safety. Away from the war and the vampires that might be tempted to try and attack them. I was so grateful to her for that. She was protecting my people when she really didn’t need to.
Then I was snapped out of the battle briefly when I heard an ear-piercing scream come from the house and I could see a white light coming from the house. I knew that the scream belonged to Tessa and my first instinct was to run to her. But I couldn’t do that. Another vampire rammed me from the side and tackled me to the ground.
I quickly got back to my feet and we were faced with each other. She was in a crouched position with her fangs showing and I crouched baring my teeth as well.
She attacked me and I snapped at her trying to get her in my jaws but that didn’t work. She dodged my attack at the last second. She was fast, and better trained than the others. She was definitely one of Josiah’s top fighters.
I turned quickly to face her again, not leaving my back turned to her for too long and then she ran at me again and I dodged her attack but as she tried to jump over my body I reached up and grabbed her leg in my mouth and yanked her to the ground and she landed with a thud.
