Chapter 350 350: The Code
[Ding!]
Gray froze after hearing a chime in his head.
'That sound…' His eyes widened slightly. He knew immediately what it was.
It was the system!
Just then like a sign, a holographic screen slowly appeared in front of him.
[System Notification!]
[The system would like to offer some help. Is the host interested?]
"Ha, is that even a question?" Gray scoffed. "Of course."
[system offer incoming!]
[Offer: The host will know the numbers required for the vault's password.]
[Cost: $100,000]
"W-What?"Gray's pupils trembled at that sight.
A staggering 100k just to know the password of the vault?
"Are you fucking kidding me?"
[No, Host.]
[Offer is only available for a limited time]
[Time left: 5:00]
[4:59]
[4:58]
"Shit." He was speechless at that.
'100k…' Gray's jaw tightened as he repeated the number.
That wasn't a small amount. Not even one close.
For someone on the right mind, he knew he had to refuse it. The number was just too big.
"It's just insane…" he whispered under his breath.
This system was truly ruthless for him after not showing up for weeks!
But then, just by thinking about it, he was stuck for some reason. The hesitation was still there but…
Gray's eyes slowly gaze back at the metal vault.
He couldn't help but take a big sigh.
"I guess it would be a waste if I just let this be here, right? After all, I'm already deep down this…" Gray muttered.
He stood still there for a few seconds, but the ticking of the time in front of him couldn't make him think clearly.
[3:01]
[3:00]
[2:59]
"Fuck," Gray could only curse as he firmly shut his eyes. When he opened them again, he instinctively looked at the CCTV cameras everywhere. He already knew that those cameras already captured every action he did, especially now that he was talking to the air.
[2:29]
[2:28]
[2:27]
"Alright, alright," Gray muttered in a defeated tone.
"I will pay for it," he pressed his lips together before staring straight ahead.
"But 100k is too much just for number. I want you to me a favor system."
[What does the host wants?]
"I want you to tamper with the CCTV. I don't know. Stop it? Or just make it seem like my actions are normal! Between 10 minutes ago and the time until I'm done here." The corner of Gray's lips rose to the side as he said that.
This request will surely help him a lot.
[Processing request…]
Gray stared blankly at the screen as he waited.
[Ding!]
[Request has been processed.]
[The system will grant the host's request.]
"Ye—"
[But the host will only grant an additional 5 minutes.]
"…" Gray's smile dropped at that.
Right… why did he even expect a lot from the system?
Gray made a face as he looked at the system unbelievable. As the time neared its end, he could only shake his head and agree with it.
'I guess I should just be thankful for it than nothing,' he muttered to himself before letting out another sigh.
"Fine." He glanced at the system, "I'll pay."
[Ding!]
[The system has accepted the system's help.]
[Total Cost: $100,000]
[Would you like to confirm this purchase?]
[Yes] [No]
Gray could only shake his head as he pressed the Yes button.
[Ding!]
[Payment Confirmed]
[$100,000 has been deducted from your wealth.]
Gray's heart sank the moment he saw it.
Even though he agreed, it still hurt to see that much money leave his account.
However, before he could even complain and feel bad about it, the holographic screen in front of him changed into something.
[Code Digits Provided]
1 2 4 6 7 9
Gray stared at it.
"Is that the password?" his brows furrowed.
[Yes, host. They are the numbers of the password. You still have to arrange them.]
"…"
"…"
"What is that bullshit?" He was beyond speechless.
He spent 100k on numbers that have not even been arranged?
[The 5-minute timer will start once the host touches the vault. Don't worry, Host, as currently, your actions are being masked.]
Gray stared at the words for a moment. The system really just left him alone after that. It didn't even explain the numbers or gave a hint.
"I guess I have that at least," he muttered quietly.
But even then, the uneasiness did not leave him. His eyes slowly moved back to the vault.
'He should be close…' Gray pressed his lips together. It had already been 2 hours since he entered this room.
That means his meeting had most likely ended now and maybe on the way back… maybe even close to the office already.
"Shit…" Gray's jaw tightened slightly. He forced himself to focus, especially at the numbers in front of him. He could only cling to the system's assurance that his actions were being masked right now.
"1 2 4 6 7 9"
They were obviously not random numbers. After knowing Alistair for some time, he noticed that he tend to be a guy who loves to give meanings to things.
Maybe that's the same with this one.
And when talking about numbers, he could only think of one thing that could relate to it.
Dates.
His mind immediately went there.
He thought of important dates in Alistai's life. His birthday, business dates, anything that seemed important. Gray frowned as he tried to recall everything he knew.
Then slowly, one memory surfaced in his mind.
The day Alistair officially assumed office.
July 21, at 9:46 am.
He knew it because the man mentioned it as one of the most memorable moments in his life.
"Don't tell me…" Gray's eyes became filled with hope at that. And thinking of that, Alistair was one to put his achievements everywhere, so maybe this was really it!
"721946"
The numbers were all there!
Gray let out a quiet breath and shook his head.
"That's all I could think of." His voice was low and full of doubt.
"If this isn't it…" He let out a small scoff, "then I just lost 100k and a big opportunity."
Gray stepped forward immediately after thinking of that. His hand reached out to the vault and the moment his fingers touched the cold metal surface—
[Ding!]
[Countdown Started]
[5:00]
His heart immediately began to beat faster.
Gray quickly moved and began putting the password.

Gray waited for a second, frozen in place. For a moment, nothing happened. Gray's chest tightened at it.
'Fuc—'
*Click.
A sharp, mechanical sound echoed from inside the vault.
Gray's eyes widened in an instant. Before he could even react, the door of the vault slowly opened. Disbelief filled his face.
It worked.
It actually worked!
