Magic Life in the Empire

Chapter 111: Gains

Eventually Cyril calmed down enough to answer the knight's questions, and they went to a nearby guard station.

He was asked what happened, did he know that vampire personally, was this a first time, and other things. It felt like an interrogation.

Cyril answered a bit vaguely, hiding much of the truth. He managed to get away with it after introducing his full name.

As expected, that immediately changed the knight's tune, and he helped as much as he could, offering even to take Cyril to a renowned healer for a checkup, but Cyril refused.

After a short and easy process, Cyril was free from the knight's nagging, back on the streets.

He didn't feel too good about using his family name like this, but there was no other choice. There were some things he wanted to hide, and he couldn't risk a thorough investigation.

...

Walking under the dark clouds, Cyril's thoughts carried him to the bite he received at the end.

You did something, right?

Rhamn cautiously replied, "Yeah. She injected a kind of 'virus' into you that slowly began changing the structure of your blood."

Ever since the fight, she had been keeping quiet. Likely equally upset about their loss.
