Chapter 54: Teasing Him Endlessly
Zhao Yiming decided to check in to a nearby hotel before returning to his apartment. The place simply wasn’t comfortable enough for two people—not to mention, he knew Su Meilin wouldn’t feel safe there anymore.
After all, it was the same apartment complex where her husband had died. Too much had happened in the last twenty-four hours. She needed somewhere quiet, clean, and far away from those memories.
Before heading to their room, they stopped by a store and picked out some clothes. It was a short trip, mostly in silence, but a necessary one.
When they finally arrived at the hotel, the room greeted them with a spacious layout, soft lighting, and cool air.
The window revealed a sweeping view of the city skyline—bustling, but far away enough to feel peaceful.
The moment they stepped inside, Su Meilin let out a long sigh and collapsed onto the bed. Her limbs ached from sitting stiffly for hours at the hospital.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to rest—her body begged for it—but her mind had been in chaos all night.
Conflicting thoughts, guilt, shame, and grief circled endlessly, and before she realized it, morning had already arrived.
Zhao Yiming quietly placed the shopping bags by the table and sat down beside her.
"Don’t you want to take a bath first?" he asked. "You haven’t taken one since yesterday, right?"
Su Meilin groaned and turned her back to him, burying her face in the sheets.
