Chapter 53: Guilt In Su Meilin’s Heart
Su Meilin was still at the hospital. She hadn’t returned to her apartment since yesterday. Still wearing the same clothes. Still carrying that tired, sleepless look on her face.
She couldn’t bring herself to go back—not after everything that happened. After realizing the luxury she lived in was built from other people’s money... and misery.
A mix of guilt and hatred toward Jin Haolong twisted inside her.
And then, the TV in the waiting room startled her with a breaking news alert:
"An accident occurred in Lingway Valley this afternoon. A BMW crashed into the valley and exploded. The driver was declared dead at the scene, his body severely burned and unrecognizable."
"Authorities believe the victim was a man in his mid-thirties..."
Su Meilin turned her head away from the screen. She didn’t want to hear anymore. Her hands trembled in her lap.
She didn’t know whether what she did was right. Whether she was finally free... or just walked into a different kind of hell.
Then, a hand gently touched her shoulder.
Startled, she looked up. Zhao Yiming and Mr. Wu were standing in front of her.
"Why are you still here, young lady?! Go home and get some rest!" Mr. Wu scolded her immediately, arms crossed, his usual stern look on his face.
