Arthur with a sigh, he shook his head, his feet following her without a second thought. This was no longer about getting through the day or finishing his quest. Something about her—about this situation felt too important to ignore.
The track was just ahead, an open stretch of pavement surrounded by the wide, green expanse of the field. The sound of the students' footsteps seemed muffled as Arthur's thoughts raced. 'What does she want with me?'
He caught up to her quickly, matching her stride, though he couldn't shake the feeling that she had been expecting him to follow all along.
Arthur followed her in silence, the sound of their footsteps crunching against the gravel path the only thing breaking the stillness. The track had thinned out, the distant noise of students fading away until they reached a more secluded area shielded by trees. The sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground. She stopped abruptly, turning around to face him.
"This place is safe," she said, her voice low but firm, her violet eyes locking onto his with an intensity that made Arthur stand straighter.
