Chapter 864 - 860: Men Also Love Sweet Nothings (3)
Subtle, untraceable happiness began to disperse at the dining table.
"Camila, how is the woman you almost hit? Have you informed her family? Will they make things difficult for you?" Jimmy Horne served a bowl of soup for Camila Ruiz and placed it in front of her, asking with concern.
Had he not asked, Camila Ruiz would have almost forgotten.
She told Jimmy Horne that the person who took in Crystal was Joseph Colson.
Upon hearing this, a flash of doubt quickly crossed Jimmy Horne's eyes; he felt this coincidence was too strange.
His people had investigated Joseph Colson, and he was a ruthless and cunning person. Was this an accident or a conspiracy?
No matter what it was, he would not let Joseph Colson have the chance to harm Camila even a hair's breadth.
Jimmy Horne did not know that Joseph Colson's intent was not to harm Camila Ruiz but to marry her, forming a familial alliance with the Ruiz Family. In doing so, he could both hurt Charles Colson and make the Colson Consortium even more powerful.
If the Colson Family and the Ruiz Family were to become in-laws, then A City would be his domain.
"Joseph Colson also implied that Charles was one-sided, meaning that Charles deceived us. But my grandmother said that Joseph Colson did indeed drive Charles out of the house."
"Both brothers have deep schemes, Camila, you must stay away from them in the future." Jimmy Horne said in a low voice, wary of Joseph Colson trying to harm Camila, and wary of Charles Colson trying to steal her away.
Trying to have a good relationship, pursue a wife, and so many troubles arise.
Jimmy Horne couldn't help but complain inwardly.
Is fate truly intent on testing every couple?
Camila Ruiz smiled but didn't respond.
Suddenly, she recalled the incident between Ivan Horne and that female reporter, and her sly smile grew wider.
All of a sudden, she was drawn into the familiar embrace she knew so well.
Jimmy Horne whispered lowly in her ear, "Your smile is suspicious; what are you thinking about?"
Camila Ruiz looked at him with alluring eyes, somewhat confusedly asking back, "What?"
Seeing her alluring eyes and her slightly flushed face adding to her charm, Jimmy Horne didn't inquire further, instead pushing her away from his embrace. He picked up the bowl of soup he had just served her, intending to feed her.
Camila Ruiz's face turned red like a lobster, and she hesitantly snatched the bowl away, saying with embarrassment, "I'm not a child anymore; I can do it myself. You should eat too; it's already past one, and you might starve." Having said that, afraid he might try to feed her again, she quickly drank the soup.
Jimmy Horne chuckled softly, saying, "Even though I am only three months older than you, it feels like I'm three years older." He wanted to take care of her, to protect her.
Just like when they were at the base, he was always looking after her.
He loved that feeling.
Though fate was harsh on him, sending him away from his family at the age of five to a utopian wilderness for rigorous training, it was also kind in giving him the opportunity to care for and protect Camila.
The two quickly finished their meal.
After settling the bill, they walked out of the Emperor Hotel, and Jimmy Horne drove Camila Ruiz back to Black Emperor Group.
Camila Ruiz's car was still parked at Black Emperor Group.
After getting out of the car, she walked towards her car, but after a few steps, a force pulled her back, causing her to fall back into Jimmy Horne's car.
Jimmy Horne's movements were so quick and forceful, it made her a little dizzy.
By the time she regained her senses, Jimmy Horne had already shut the car door. His car was black, the windows naturally tinted as well. People outside would find it difficult to see inside, and since it was known that this was Jimmy Horne's car, no one from the company dared to get close and peek. Inside, they could enjoy a peaceful two-person world.
"Camila."
Jimmy Horne called her deeply.
"Yes."
"I love you."
Jimmy Horne said intently, his dark eyes locking on her beautiful face.
Camila Ruiz's face tinged with red as she softly replied, "I know." His love was deep but also apparent. Whenever they were together, anyone could see his love for her.
"And you?" Jimmy Horne looked at her expectantly, waiting for her to also say "I love you."
Camila Ruiz couldn't help but laugh; they had long since shared their hearts, yet he had asked her twice.
"You already know."
"I want to hear you say it." Jimmy Horne coaxed softly, "Camila, say it, okay? I want to hear you say you love me."
"You're not a woman and yet you want to hear sweet words?"
Camila Ruiz laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Men love hearing sweet words too. No one says men can't listen to sweet words; as long as it's from the woman they love, even if it's saccharine sweet, they'd love to hear it."
"Camila, my dear Camila, say it, I want to hear, I love to hear it, I hope you can say those three words to me every day, every hour, every moment."
"Oh, young master of the blazing gate, you're so cheesy it's giving me goosebumps."
Camila Ruiz teased him.
"A young master is human too."
"Camila, I love you, love you very much, to the point that I wish to imprint you onto my body, never to part."
If she wouldn't say sweet words, then he would!
"I love you too."
After he murmured, Camila Ruiz blushed and quietly said.
Jimmy Horne immediately held her face in delight, exclaiming joyously, "Camila, can you say it again?"
Seeing his joy from her words, Camila Ruiz's heart was full of affection. They had long been in love, but due to being apart for so long, it felt unreal to them; they were always afraid it was all a dream. So, he seized every chance to say he loved her, as if afraid the dream would end and he'd lose the chance to express his love.
During these days together, he said "I love you" countless times, but she had never said it in front of him, which made him worry, made him afraid.
Her response now made him incredibly happy.
Camila Ruiz said earnestly, "Billy, I love you, as deep as you love me."
"Fool."
Camila Ruiz drove away from Black Emperor Group under Jimmy Horne's gaze.
After her car left Black Emperor Group, a luxury black business car slowly followed her.
The person in the luxury business car was Joseph Colson.
Joseph Colson held a sheet of paper in his hand, containing Jimmy Horne's relevant information.
The information was too simple, so simple that Joseph Colson couldn't find a single clue.
Although he hadn't yet met Jimmy Horne formally, his impression was that Jimmy Horne was a formidable character. Yet the investigation turned up such simple findings, only knowing that Jimmy Horne was the grandson of the Horne Family, with Adele Horne as his mother, Noah Reyes as his father, and a younger brother. The family business seemed to only consist of Black Emperor Group.
Joseph Colson felt something was off.
But he couldn't pinpoint what was wrong.
To execute his plan to win her over, he needed to understand his opponent thoroughly.
Joseph Colson had been secretly following Camila Ruiz since she left the hospital. He observed the interaction between Camila Ruiz and Ivan Horne, noting that although they were close, there was no hint of romance. In contrast, the love between Camila Ruiz and Jimmy Horne was evident at a glance.
So, his real rival was Jimmy Horne.
