Julia Bluen was at a loss for words. Upon reflection, she realized Glades Horne had indeed been incredibly good to her sister. Every morning, he would wait outside her sister’s room, simply so that she could see him as soon as she woke up.
A shadow loomed before her, and her lips were suddenly under siege.
When Julia lifted her gaze, Glades Horne’s handsome face was only inches away, his masculine scent filling her nostrils. It wasn’t until she came back to her senses that Glades moved his lips away, but the arms he had around her tightened. "Julia, this is our honeymoon, and I don’t want you thinking of someone else. No matter the past, it’s the future we should care about. Remember, you promised me."
"I’m just worried about Ruby," Julia said. She knew it was wrong to bring up her sister during their honeymoon, but she was genuinely concerned.
The happiness and joy she was experiencing now had originally belonged to Ruby. Without any news of her sister, she truly couldn’t feel at ease.
"Don’t worry. Once we return home from our honeymoon, I guarantee you’ll get news about your sister," Glades Horne reassured. The sternness vanished from his face, replaced by a gentle, indulgent expression filled with tenderness. He raised his large hand to rest atop Julia’s head, habitually ruffling her short hair.
His affectionate, deep-set eyes momentarily flashed with an indiscernible emotion. In fact, he hadn’t told Julia that he had instructed Jonathan Allen not to notify them—even if Ruby’s whereabouts were discovered—until their honeymoon was over. He wanted to use this month to make Julia fall completely in love with him so that even if they found Ruby, she wouldn’t think of pushing him back to her sister. He also planned to present the news of Ruby’s whereabouts as a grand gift to Julia after the honeymoon, hoping to make her happy.
No matter what, the person he cared about most was Julia Bluen.
"Really?"
"When have I ever lied to you?" Glades Horne asked with a faint smile, lightly tapping the tip of her nose.
