Chapter 113 - What’s there to fear in a challenge (4)_1
Everyone was dumbfounded. Even Marcel Horne was slightly stunned. He thought Ruby Bluen would be heartbroken and distressed, then run back to T City in tears. But he hadn’t expected Ruby Bluen to... Had he been mistaken about the pain he just caught a glimpse of in Ruby Bluen’s eyes? Marcel Horne put away his warm smile, returning to his usual indifference. Carrying the bag Ruby Bluen had pushed into his hand, he walked coldly toward the dormitory building.
On the surface, everything seemed fine, but in reality, both women had launched into a ferocious struggle, the outcome of which was still unknown.
Marcel Horne thought everything Ruby Bluen handed to him was hers. When he returned to his single dormitory, he placed the bag on his bed. Looking at the bed that Ruby Bluen had occupied for several days—the bed that was originally his—a flicker of yearning still sparked deep in his eyes. How he wished he could hold her until dawn, warming her with his own body so she wouldn’t feel the cold, so she wouldn’t have sleepless nights in the chilly darkness. But he couldn’t.She was the woman his older brother loved!
He had witnessed firsthand his brother’s kindness, his care, and attention to her. Their brotherly bond was strong. Even though they weren’t born of the same mother, how could he possibly accept Ruby Bluen’s love? He could only completely let go of his reservations and accept Ruby Bluen—whom he also had always deeply loved—if, one day, his brother personally told him he had forgotten her. His brother would have to confirm he no longer loved Ruby, had fallen for another woman, married her, and was living a life full of affection.
Looking at those several large bags, it was obvious they contained clothes. Marcel Horne wasn’t very curious, but he still reached out and opened one. When he saw that several bags contained men’s clothing that fit him perfectly, he realized Ruby Bluen had bought them for him. A complex but inevitably sweet sensation swept through his heart. Ruby! What on earth am I supposed to do with you?
"These clothes are for you. Try them on, see if they fit," Ruby Bluen’s voice suddenly came from the doorway.
Suppressing all expression, Marcel Horne spoke indifferently, "I have clothes to wear; there’s no need to spend so much money." Since joining the military, he had learned to be frugal, having cast his young master’s privilege into the Pacific Ocean.
"It’s my money, what are you worried about?" Ruby Bluen laughed, walking in. From one of the bags, she took out a piece of clothing and started measuring it against him.
"No need, I’m going downstairs now. By the way, Emma is new here, so accompany her when you have time; it’ll be company for you too. Let me know when you want to go back, and I’ll book your flight ticket." Leaving her with those cool words, Marcel Horne departed indifferently. But as he walked away, he still carried the bags of clothes Ruby Bluen had bought for him, taking them with him.
Watching his actions, Ruby Bluen felt both exasperated and amused. That big iceberg, always playing tough.
