Chapter 1239: Have to Admit
"What? You couldn’t have fallen for Panther, right?" Jason Cole had a slight smile on his lips, "Panther is indeed quite impressive. If you like him, you should give it a shot."
"But, Panther is quite capable, he may not end up liking you."
Mia Cole: "..."
Is it really okay for her brother to undermine his sister like this?
Is he even her real brother?
"Don’t worry, I won’t fall for Panther. He already has a fiancée." Mia said softly.
No matter how much she likes someone, if that person already has someone they love, she wouldn’t do something to ruin their relationship.
If she did that, she would look down on herself.
"Panther told you guys all that much?" Jason had a hint of amusement in his eyes, "Did he say it last time during a mission?"
Mia nodded awkwardly, silently acknowledging it.
She couldn’t possibly tell him it was because she knew about Kai Bright’s engagement, right?
They have their discipline and integrity; they wouldn’t reveal Panther’s true identity.
"He’s open-minded." Jason remarked.
Mia: "..."
The same person, different identities, and her brother gave a completely different evaluation. She couldn’t help but admire Kai Bright’s ability to hide his identity; even her brother didn’t notice anything odd.
Kai Bright didn’t drive home but ran to Lucy Wells’ building, secretly sending a text message: "Are you asleep?"
The response came quickly: "Not yet."
Kai chuckled softly, replying as he said, "Open the door for me."
It was late, and he didn’t want to disturb Lucy’s mom and grandma by knocking.
After pressing send, Kai was already standing at Lucy’s door. Once the message was successfully sent, he heard some quiet movement from inside, which seemed to be Lucy tiptoeing over.
When the door opened, Lucy saw him and immediately beamed.
Seeing his fiancée, Kai pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly, desperately inhaling her calming, gentle fragrance.
Surprised by the sudden hug, Lucy didn’t ask anything but relaxed her body, letting him hold her.
They embraced for a good five or six minutes before Kai felt his excitement calm down, and then he gave Lucy a peck on the cheek, chuckling softly, "Lucy, I’m so happy."
Lucy’s eyes curved into crescent moons as she nodded, "I’m happy too."
Because he was happy, she was happy.
"I bought food." Kai handed two large bags to Lucy with a silly smile, "Let’s go inside, don’t feed the mosquitoes with me out here."
"Okay." Lucy didn’t ask any further questions, only reminded him, "Drive carefully on the way back."
"Mhm." Kai gently squeezed Lucy’s hand, whispering, "I can’t wait to marry you."
Lucy pursed her lips and chuckled lightly, "Hurry and go."
Kai lowered his head, gave Lucy a light peck on the lips, and then reluctantly waved as he wanted to see Lucy enter before he left with peace of mind.
Lucy smiled at him, turned, and quietly went inside.
Hearing the door lock click, Kai finally felt at ease to go downstairs.
Carrying the two large bags, Lucy shook her head amusingly and took them straight into her room. She then checked and, seeing there was nothing that needed refrigerating, felt relieved.
