Chapter 39: Gift to Apologize
As far as he knew, the reason Kevin married that girl was because Grandpa Harper had taken a liking to her at first sight. Although it seemed a bit too hasty, he believed that the old man’s judgment was not wrong.
Kevin would probably fall for her soon.
"I don’t have a habit of reopening old wounds."
Bringing up Jessie’s past repeatedly might just make her feel worse.
Adam understood that Kevin was worried about making her upset, so he ended up troubling himself instead.
"Who would’ve thought that our cold-hearted President Harper actually has such a warm side, already showing so much concern for another person?"
Listening to Adam’s teasing, Kevin maintained his composure and responded seriously.
"Even though we are just a couple by name, as my wife, she can’t be bullied by other people no matter what."
"Tch. You’re all talk, Kevin. I really look forward to seeing you chase after her soon."
At these words, Kevin’s face twitched with discomfort as he angrily shouted out Adam’s name, making him stop his teasing.
Jessie was his wife—if she got bullied by other people, he would definitely lose face.
Adam shook his head helplessly. "Fine, I won’t say more. But you know I’m a very busy person. It’s just some research that you could have anyone do. Why trouble me? It’s not like I’m made for this."
