At that time, Laura, who was in a vulnerable position, struggled immensely to make ends meet and raise a child with the little money she had.
Jessie nodded vigorously, agreeing with Kevin’s reasoning.
Since they gave in once back then, those relatives dared to harass Laura and pressure her for money. As the saying goes, "Once bitten, twice shy." She wouldn’t let them succeed a third time.

The two of them tidied up and went downstairs, where the bodyguards tensed up seeing Kevin and Jessie descending together without them knowing in advance.
Drake wore a pained expression and quickly scurried away.

Watching Drake leave, Jessie was taken aback. "That person looked familiar just now."
"Your eyes must be fooling you," Kevin replied with a nonchalant expression.
She nodded. "I guess so. Should I get a pair of glasses?"
Otherwise, how could she have confused him with the shopkeeper who once delivered Kevin home?
"No need, your eyesight is fine."
