Chapter 570-The Academy Will Restart Again
Fauna:
Flashback:
"Mommy, she stole my makeup again!" I heard Mariana scream for our mother, and I grunted at her with my hands on my waist.
"Oh my Goddess, you twelve-year-olds have made me go nuts," my mother arrived, angry at both of us.
Before my mother could come to my room, Mariana rushed in to point at me.
"You don’t have to point at her, she knows who I am," I said, pouting back at her.
"And it is not your makeup, Mommy said we both will use it together, but you have hoarded it," I screamed, grunting angrily.
As we both began to yell and scream at each other, suddenly my mother appeared, and we both turned to her to complain when we noticed her face.
She had a black eye and a split lip.
"What is it? Why are you two arguing now?" her voice broke as she questioned, but she kept the anger in her tone.
"Did Daddy hit you again?" Mariana was the one who said it first.
And then I reached her.
"No, I’m fine." She instantly turned her face away.
"Don’t fight over makeup and stuff. I’ll get you both what you want. Just don’t fight. I hate this noise of fighting and arguments," my mother complained, her body shaking as she said those words.
We just silently watched her go through a plethora of emotions before we heard our father’s voice.
"Am I going to get my coffee or not?" he screamed so loudly that all three of us jumped terribly.
And then we did not make a sound.
We just watched our mother rush out.
We barely thought.
We really wanted to help her, but there was nothing we could do.
However, the minute she left, I looked at Mariana.
We stared at each other in silence before she pouted and stuck her tongue out.
"When I grow up and I’m older, I’ll get a home which is far away from you so that I never get to see your ugly face again," she hissed at me.
And I did the same, grunting at her.
"Well, I wish the same. Do you really think I wanna see you again? Never. I have had enough of you," I said, sticking my tongue out, wishing that we were separated already.
End Of Flashback.
I cannot even describe what it felt like when I saw my soul slipping away from my body for a moment.
Before that, I had already seen Haiden’s agitation and anxiety.
The way he kept talking to me the entire time, trying to keep me awake.
It was funny because years ago, I had wanted his attention.
I had wanted him to even look at me with one moment of love, but his love had changed.
All his attention was only for Clementine, and it always made me so bitter.
But today, I saw even more desperation in his eyes for me.
But it was very sad because my life was slipping from my hands.
The fear in his eyes had erased every complaint I ever had against him.
He had not accepted me out of pity. He truly loved me. And after realizing that, I found myself loving him even more.
Then, when we reached the mainland and Haiden carried me out, my body suddenly went numb.
Everything went silent. I could not speak. I could not move.
But I could hear him crying.
Haiden kept crying, nonstop. He was trying to wake me up.
As I heard his voice, something stirred inside me. A voice echoed within me.
"We have to stay alive."
It was my wolf.
"He is crying for us. He will not survive without us."
I do not know why my wolf was so certain, but I could feel it.
Then I heard Haiden’s voice again.
Even though it felt like there was no life left in me, I was still alive because of my wolf.
She was the only thing keeping me alive.
Like the last flame that remains when everything else has burned out, she was still there inside me.
Then Haiden shouted for help. He said that if I did not survive, he did not want to live either.
That was enough.
A spark ignited within my wolf.
"We are not leaving him."
My entire body suddenly filled with heat.
And then, my transformation began.
The pain I had been feeling for hours, the blood loss that had weakened me, it no longer affected me.
After the transformation, when I came back to my senses, I saw Haiden standing in front of me.
There was a bright smile on his face. He looked genuinely happy.
"You scared me," he repeated, before pulling me into a tight embrace.
As we hugged, I shyly tucked my face into his chest.
"You do realize I am only in my underclothes, right?" I said.
He started laughing.
"Yeah? That’s why am I so distracted?" he teased.
That made me frown at him.
He laughed again and pulled back, looking at me properly.
He did not have a jacket either, and I was not going to let him take off his shirt.
Once we stepped out, there would be people around, and I did not want anyone staring at him.
"Wait here. I will be right back," he said before running off.
I did not know where he went, but he returned quickly and gestured for me to follow him.
"Come on. Let’s go to the academy. We will find some clothes there."
The moment he said that, I grabbed his hand, and we both started running.
He moved through the safer areas since he knew the academy zones well after spending so much time there.
Still, thoughts ran through my mind.
We might run into warriors. We would have to explain what we were doing there.
Then I noticed the fence around the academy. It was broken from all sides, as if the entire place had collapsed.
I knew Haiden had noticed it too, but we kept moving straight toward the academy.
We entered from the back, near the woods. As we made our way toward the halls, I heard noise coming from far outside, from the road.
"Haiden, what is going on?" I asked as we reached one of the rooms.
I did not even know whose room it was.
Haiden broke the door open and led me inside. There were clothes lying around.
I quickly changed while Haiden stepped outside to check where the noise was coming from.
I put on a pair of jeans and a black top.
When I stepped out, Haiden frowned at me.
"I think there is some kind of meeting going on outside," he said, explaining the commotion.
"Maybe the council leaders have finally decided to shut the academy down?" I suggested.
I hoped that was true, because I was not going to let Haiden go back to any academy again.
"Let’s go see," Haiden said, taking my hand.
Now he kept me close, as if he was afraid that if he let go even for a moment, something would happen to me.
As soon as we reached the road, we realized this was not a small gathering.
The entire road and ground were completely packed.
It looked as if people from every pack had gathered here.
As far as I could see, there were only heads stretching into the distance.
There was a large stage set up in the middle.
"Those are two council leaders," I said to Haiden, pointing toward the stage.
Haiden tried to stay out of sight, avoiding attention.
Everyone already knew we had been sent to the North.
If we were recognized again, it could cause trouble.
"Yeah, but why are they here?" Haiden asked and I shrugged.
We stood close together, our bodies pressed to the side because of the crowd. Haiden was tall, which made him easier to spot.
There were many warriors positioned near the stage, as if securing the leaders. The announcement had not started yet.
"We need to move to the other side and inform the others that a meeting is happening here," Haiden said.
We started pushing through the crowd. It was difficult. People were pressing forward as if every decision would be made today.
As we moved, I overheard a few conversations.
"I heard the headmaster and his son went to the North. The mad one. He is not coming back," a woman said.
Haiden’s grip tightened around my hand.
I knew he had understood. It was shocking.
If that was true, everything would change.
We would have no one left to support us here.
"I also heard the council leaders are taking over the academy. It is not going to shut down. The monsters are still alive, so someone has to fight them," another woman said.
Haiden looked at me, and we shared the same fear.
"Hurry," he said.
We pushed forward faster, moving through the crowd, trying to find Clementine, Troy, and Leysa.
If they had not made it, we were in serious trouble.
But just when we thought our main problem was dealing with the council leaders, something caught my eye.
Far in the distance, near the mountains, something stood tall enough to make my body tremble.
"Haiden, what the hell is that?" I asked, gasping for air as I pointed toward it.
