Chapter 431 - 12. Curse (Two in One)
"Report, Chief Officer, the steam engine parts in the cargo hold seem to have taken on water!"
"Report, Chief Officer, some of the storage has fallen into the sea."
"There’s some damage to the hull, and the walls of the storeroom have started to leak..."
The crew of the Iceberg Queen bustled about on deck, and after a rough assessment of the damage from the battle, they collectively returned to the deck to report to Pahetz.
Hearing the crew’s reports made the already upset Pahetz look even worse. Chasing the sea ghost for two days without catching a single hair, let alone facing a deficit, and she had just found out from Fisher that the Siren had been killed by this man. It was a slap in the face for all the women on board, and she wished she could find a hole to crawl into...
The frustration built up in her chest, lingering, as she swore with a slightly stinking face,
"How long will it take to fix? We can’t hit the road until everything on the ship is repaired! I don’t want to be walking along and suddenly the water is pouring up to my... stomach."
What Pahetz might have wanted to curse out was unknown, but when Old Jack emerged from the cabin with three Mouse Human Species carrying three or four boxes of spoiled food, she paused for a second and then subconsciously switched to a more civil sentence.
"It will take two to three days, and the key issue is that we’re short on food. Some food has been lost to the sea, and some has been spoiled by freezing. With the current progress and the time needed to fix the steam engine, we’ll likely have to eat once every two days until we reach the next supply point. We can manage, on a tough call... oh, no, wrong, we’ve onboarded a few more people. If that’s the case..."
