I Took A Succubus's First Time

Chapter 488: Aegis’ Confession

Kouhei was simply stating the facts. Aegis had only just gotten caught up in their situation, and it wasn’t as though they could force her to do anything she didn’t want to do. Regardless of how useful her abilities might be to them, she was still a person with her own thoughts and feelings, and those were things they needed to take into consideration.

For all they knew, Aegis might find the entire arrangement unpleasant. Even if they believed it would benefit her in the long run, that didn’t automatically mean she would feel the same way about it. Besides, forcing someone into an agreement they weren’t comfortable with would only create more problems later on. If they wanted this arrangement to work, then getting her genuine consent was the least they could do.

"I think we should consider her feelings on the matter," Kouhei said calmly.

Aegis looked at Kouhei, and a blush immediately spread across her face. If she could have seen her own expression at that moment, she probably would have realized that she looked like a woman who had just fallen head over heels in love with someone. Her eyes were practically sparkling, and the way she stared at him made it painfully obvious that she was looking at him in a completely different light.

Unfortunately for her, she wasn’t the only person who noticed.

While Aegis continued gazing at Kouhei with that lovestruck expression, Hina happened to catch sight of her face. Aegis eventually turned her attention toward Hina as well, and the moment their eyes met, the atmosphere between them changed almost instantly.

Hina’s expression was colder than ice, and the look she gave Aegis was practically enough to freeze the air around them. She didn’t even need to say anything for Aegis to understand what she was trying to communicate. The message was painfully clear: whatever she was thinking about doing, she had better think twice before actually going through with it.

It was practically a warning.

If Aegis intended to develop feelings for Kouhei, then Hina certainly wasn’t going to welcome the idea with open arms. In fact, judging by the expression on her face, Aegis had the feeling that Hina would make her regret it if she decided to push her luck.

Aegis felt as though she had just witnessed something genuinely terrifying. A shiver ran down her spine the moment she saw Hina’s expression, and for a brief second, she almost forgot what she had been thinking about in the first place.

Then, after a little while, Hina smiled at her.

It was such a natural, pleasant smile that someone who hadn’t seen her previous expression might have assumed that nothing unusual had happened. She looked perfectly calm, almost as though the terrifying glare she had given Aegis moments earlier had never existed.

For a moment, Aegis wondered whether she had imagined the whole thing.

However, she quickly dismissed that possibility. She knew perfectly well what she had seen, and it certainly hadn’t been a dream. Hina’s expression had been real, and the warning behind it had been even more real.

’That woman is scary,’ Aegis thought to herself, trying to act as though nothing had happened.

She wasn’t sure what frightened her more, the expression Hina had given her or the fact that Hina could switch from looking like she wanted to murder someone to smiling sweetly in the span of a few seconds. Either way, Aegis decided that she would be better off keeping that particular observation to herself.

"Aegis," Petra called, bringing her attention back to the conversation. "Do you actually want to do this? I think it could be good for you, wouldn’t you agree?"

Petra asked the question because Kouhei had just made it clear that they needed to consider Aegis’s feelings before making any decisions on her behalf. Instead of simply assuming that Aegis would agree, Petra wanted to hear the answer directly from her.

"Um... Could I think about it for a little while?" Aegis asked hesitantly.

Truthfully, a part of her wanted to jump at the opportunity immediately. The arrangement had plenty of advantages, and she would have been lying if she claimed that the idea didn’t appeal to her. However, after seeing the expression Hina had given her, Aegis felt that making such an important decision without considering the consequences might not be the smartest thing she could do.

She wasn’t afraid of admitting what she wanted, but she also wasn’t stupid enough to ignore the possibility that her decision might cause trouble with the other girls. Falling in love was one thing, but getting involved with someone who already had three beautiful girlfriends was an entirely different matter.

Kouhei smiled at her reassuringly.

"That’s perfectly fine," he said. "If you think you can agree to it, then that’s good. If you decide that you don’t want to go through with it, that’s fine, too. Take as much time as you need to think about it, and I’ll respect whatever decision you make. I won’t hold it against you."

The moment Aegis saw his smile, her heart began pounding against her chest again.

It was almost unfair how easily he could make her feel that way. He wasn’t pressuring her, demanding an answer, or trying to convince her that agreeing would somehow make her a better person. Instead, he was giving her the freedom to decide for herself, and that consideration only made him more attractive in her eyes.

’How am I supposed to resist someone like that?’ Aegis wondered.

She had always imagined that finding the right man for her would be incredibly difficult. Considering her own personality, she couldn’t exactly blame herself for having such concerns. Aegis was perverted, sadistic, masochistic, and practically everything else that could be used to describe a woman with an unusually strong appetite for pleasure.

She knew herself well enough to understand that she wasn’t exactly an easy person to satisfy.

If she ended up with a man who couldn’t keep up with her desires, she honestly doubted that she would remain faithful to him for very long. She could imagine herself becoming frustrated, searching for satisfaction elsewhere, and repeating the same mistakes until her reputation became so terrible that practically everyone in the world knew about her.

Eventually, she might even end up becoming a prostitute.

It was hardly the sort of future someone would expect from an aspiring nun, and the contrast between those two possibilities was honestly rather ridiculous. Aegis had started out with ambitions that were supposed to lead her toward a respectable life, yet her own desires threatened to send her in a completely different direction.

The thought was enough to make her reconsider her choices.

However, when she looked at Kouhei again, she began to wonder whether her situation might not be as hopeless as she had once believed.

Perhaps falling in love with him could help her find the kind of relationship she had always wanted. Kouhei seemed capable of satisfying her desires, at least judging by what she had learned about him so far. More importantly, he appeared to have a good relationship with the women around him, despite having three beautiful girlfriends already.

That alone was worth considering.

Aegis had no idea how he managed to maintain such relationships without constantly getting caught in arguments, misunderstandings, or whatever other problems naturally came with dating several people. Honestly, she suspected that maintaining a relationship with even one person could be exhausting enough, so having three girlfriends sounded like a full-time job that came with absolutely no days off.

Yet Kouhei seemed to be managing it.

He had treated her with consideration even though she was practically a stranger who had suddenly become involved in their affairs. Instead of treating her like a convenient tool for achieving their goals, he had insisted that her feelings mattered just as much as everyone else’s.

That was something Aegis couldn’t easily ignore.

Maybe agreeing to the arrangement wasn’t such a bad idea after all. Perhaps it was something she genuinely needed, not simply because of her desires, but because she wanted to find someone she could trust and build a relationship with.

She took a deep breath, gathering her courage before finally making up her mind.

"I’ll do it," Aegis declared.

"Huh?" Kouhei reacted with genuine surprise, staring at her as though he hadn’t heard her correctly. It hadn’t even been a minute since she had asked for time to think, and now she was already agreeing to the arrangement. "A-Are you sure about that? I mean, I thought you were going to take some time to consider everything more carefully. I wasn’t expecting you to make your decision so quickly."

"I think I’ve thought about it long and hard, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I like the arrangement," Aegis replied confidently.

Kouhei remained stunned by her answer, apparently unsure whether he should be relieved that she had reached a decision or concerned about how quickly she had reached it. He had genuinely expected her to take longer, especially considering how complicated the situation was.

Aegis, however, seemed to have found her resolve.

She turned toward the three girls Kouhei had brought with him and looked at them directly. Although there was still a hint of nervousness in her expression, she no longer seemed interested in backing away from her decision.

"I know this might seem like a huge step, and I understand that my decision could bother all of you," she explained. "Honestly, I wouldn’t blame you if you were angry with me for saying something like this. I know that I’m stepping into a situation that already involves the three of you, and I don’t want to pretend that my feelings won’t complicate things."

She paused briefly, gathering her thoughts before continuing.

"However, I don’t want to lose this opportunity without at least giving it a chance. I’ve thought about what I want, and I’ve considered how I feel about Kouhei. I think... I’m in love with him."

Aegis delivered those words with such confidence that even Kouhei was left completely speechless.

He had expected her to agree to the arrangement, perhaps after a lengthy discussion about the conditions and expectations involved. What he hadn’t expected was for her to declare her love for him so openly, especially when they had only just finished discussing whether she wanted to participate in the first place.

Petra couldn’t hold herself back any longer, and she burst into a fit of chuckles.

"Well, isn’t that a surprising turn of events!" she exclaimed.
