Kouhei decided to return to the hotel where they were staying. When he arrived, he immediately noticed Hina sitting in the lounge, looking almost as though she had been waiting for someone to come back.

The moment Hina saw him, she immediately stood up and ran toward him.

"Kouhei!"

She sounded genuinely happy to see him, and after running up to him, she immediately wrapped her arms around him in a hug. For a brief moment, everything seemed perfectly normal.

Then Hina’s expression suddenly changed.

The moment she got close enough to him, a different woman’s scent immediately reached her nose. Her smile disappeared almost instantly, and she slowly pulled her head back while staring at him with a suspicious expression.

Hina sniffed again.

Then she sniffed a little more carefully.

Kouhei, meanwhile, looked guilty as hell.

"A woman... no, wait. There are two, aren’t there?" Hina asked, staring at him with an increasingly cold expression.

Kouhei felt a strange sense of nostalgia when he saw that look on her face. He had seen Hina make that expression before, but seeing it again under these circumstances made him realize that he probably should have been a little more careful about what he brought back with him.

"As expected, I really can’t look away from you for too long, can I?" Hina continued, her voice becoming noticeably colder. "Otherwise, some snakes will take advantage of you the moment I turn my back."

She sounded genuinely angry this time.

"I’m sorry," Kouhei said, lowering his head slightly.

"You don’t have to apologize for that," Hina replied, although her expression suggested that she was still far from satisfied. "I know for a fact that you’re precious, and I also know that more and more women are probably going to end up staying by your side. Because of that, I don’t really have the right to be jealous every single time something like this happens."

She paused for a moment and took a breath before continuing.

"In all seriousness, I’m actually more proud than jealous. I know what kind of person you are, and I know that people are naturally going to be drawn to you. Still, what I don’t like is someone sneaking into the situation without my permission."

Kouhei immediately felt cold sweat running down his back.

This was the first time he had seen Hina look this incredibly angry.

Interestingly enough, her voice was not particularly loud, and she was not shouting at him either. She was speaking relatively calmly, which somehow made the situation feel even more intimidating. Kouhei could tell from her expression alone that she was absolutely livid, even though she was trying her best to keep herself composed.

He had dealt with dangerous situations before, fought people who were stronger than him, and even found himself in situations where his life had been on the line. Somehow, standing in front of Hina while she silently judged him felt like an entirely different kind of danger.

At least an enemy usually gave him the courtesy of trying to kill him.

Hina was simply looking at him.

For some reason, that was enough.

"M-More than anything, I think I should report what happened last night to everyone," Kouhei said nervously.

He was becoming increasingly uncomfortable under Hina’s stare, and he was starting to think that if this continued for much longer, she might actually explode.

Hina stared at him for another moment before finally sighing.

"Let’s go there together, then. Everyone is waiting for you," she said as she grabbed his arm, almost as though she needed to physically anchor him so he could not suddenly escape.

Kouhei looked at her with an awkward expression.

"By the way, you really reek of those two women," Hina added, her nose wrinkling slightly. "I hate it, so I’m going to cover you with my own scent instead. That’s okay, right?"

Kouhei could not help but gulp.

For some reason, he had a very strong feeling that he was going to have an extremely eventful night.

"So, the Holy Book has finally awakened, huh?" Yuka said after Kouhei finished explaining everything.

She voiced the thought almost immediately, clearly trying to process everything she had just heard.

"So that means we’ll finally be able to find out whether there’s something we can do for Kozue, right?" Yuuna asked.

That was the most important question for everyone.

Kozue was the reason they had gone through all of this in the first place, and finding a way to help her remained their biggest concern. Regardless of all the other complications surrounding Kouhei, Petra or Aegis, the original objective had not changed.

They needed to find a way to help Kozue.

"As of now, it seems like her power doesn’t last very long," Kouhei explained. "She also has to constantly have a Love Link with me in order to activate her power again."

That was what Petra had told him, anyway.

Apparently, after using her ability for even a short period, Aegis’s power was almost immediately depleted. It was as though something had vacuumed everything out of her, leaving her completely drained afterward. Because of that, she needed to establish another Love Link with Kouhei before she could properly use her power again.

Kouhei was still not entirely sure what to make of the whole thing himself.

He also knew that saying it out loud in front of everyone probably was not going to make the room particularly cheerful.

As expected, the atmosphere immediately became awkward.

For some reason, however, when Petra had explained that part to him, Aegis had seemed unusually excited about the idea.

She had even started drooling at the thought.

Apparently, her rather perverted nature was more than enough to make her excited about the possibility of having sex with Kouhei again.

"Love Link, huh...?" Hina muttered.

She looked directly at Kouhei with an expression that was noticeably more irritated than before.

Although she had told him earlier that she was not angry with him, Kouhei was beginning to realize that this might have been a technically correct statement that completely failed to describe what she was actually feeling.

Her earlier words were probably closer to saying that she understood him rather than saying she was genuinely fine with everything.

Of course she would be angry.

Kouhei had just admitted that Aegis needed to have sex with him in order to activate her ability again.

From Hina’s perspective, that was hardly something she could simply smile and accept without any complaints. She was Kouhei’s girlfriend, after all, so hearing that another woman could gain access to him through something like Love Link was naturally going to bother her.

Kouhei could practically feel the temperature around Hina dropping.

He briefly considered whether explaining the situation in more detail would help, but then he remembered that explaining why another woman needed to have sex with him probably was not the sort of sentence that would make his girlfriend feel better.

If anything, it sounded like the kind of sentence that could get him into even more trouble.

"I know you’re doing this for Kozue, Kouhei-kun, but..." Yuuna said. "I don’t approve of this either."

Kouhei looked at her.

"I understand that you probably feel responsible for Kozue, and I know you’re trying to do everything you can to help her," Yuuna continued. "Still, if you’re going to sacrifice yourself like that, I honestly don’t even know what I’m supposed to feel about it."

She had remained quiet for a while, clearly thinking carefully about what Kouhei had told them. Her expression was not one of outright anger, but there was still some discomfort behind her eyes.

She understood why Kouhei was doing it.

That did not mean she had to like it.

Yuka, meanwhile, had been quietly listening to the entire conversation. She still had no real idea what this Love Link actually was, but from the way everyone was talking about it, she could tell that it was some kind of unique power connected to Kouhei.

For some reason, that made her interested.

She remained quiet for the moment, seemingly trying to understand exactly how this strange ability worked.

"However, I understand that you’re trying to do this for Kozue’s sake," Yuuna continued. "Because of that, I don’t really know how I could argue against it."

She gave Kouhei a serious look.

"I know you’re trying your best, and I know you don’t want anything bad to happen to her. So, just don’t overdo it, okay?"

Kouhei felt guilty.

Really guilty.

That was only natural, considering this entire situation had developed into something that he never should have needed to consider in the first place.

He already had girlfriends, yet he was still actively becoming involved with more women because of circumstances that kept pushing him in that direction. Although his girlfriends had given him permission to do what was necessary, that did not mean Kouhei actually felt comfortable about the situation himself.

In fact, the entire thing bothered him more than he wanted to admit.

He did not have any romantic feelings toward either Petra or Aegis, and that was probably part of the reason why the others seemed so bitter about the whole situation.

They knew Kouhei was doing it because he believed there was no other choice, but knowing that did not automatically make their feelings disappear.

Still, they had little choice but to accept the situation for what it was.

Whether their feelings mattered or not was ultimately something they had to decide for themselves.
