Chapter 683 - 323 Defense Mission
Lin Wu didn’t open the secret door, but instead led Wai away, returning to the small hill a kilometer away. Phantom in the woods had recovered some of its energy. Lin Wu petted its head as a reward, and ordered Wai to find Maya and bring her here.
Wai sniffed the air and took off running north. From its reaction, the distance didn’t seem too far.
About 30 minutes later, Lin Wu saw Maya at the base of the hill to the north, leading Sandstorm, guided by Wai towards him. Sandstorm’s fatigue reached 50% and it started to slow down, and at 80%, it refused to move at all, not even budging when dismounted. Maya could only wait for it to recover some energy before leading it on foot. When Wai found her, she was only a few kilometers from Lin Wu. Delayed by Sandstorm, she arrived belatedly.
Maya seemed quite dissatisfied with Sandstorm, abandoning the reins without even glancing at it as soon as she neared the woods. Sandstorm tried to approach Phantom but was deterred by a scornful look, leaving it to stand desolately aside.
Maya, holding binoculars, looked towards the gas station: "Position confirmed?"
Lin Wu showed her the computer: "Planted a trip mine."
Maya, surprised: "You actually know how to use trip mines?"
Lin Wu glared at her, and Maya pretended not to see: "Assault or ambush? Get the car, then grab the gasoline. If all goes well, we could be home in a day or two."
