Chapter 682 - 322 Old Friend? _3
Lin Meng clutched her backpack uneasily as she stepped back, then turned and ran toward the white pickup truck, frantically starting the vehicle. She then hit the roadside greenery in her panic, clumsily reversing before driving away.
Lin Wu and Maya let out a whistle, and two horses along with Wai came running. The pair vaulted onto their horses’ backs, and Maya asked with a smirk, "Does it smell good?"
"Not telling you," Lin Wu replied as he caught Wai jumping up and placed it in front of him on the saddle.
"It seems like you might have done something unkind to her before," Maya said.
"Hmm?" Lin Wu responded.
"She acted as if I didn’t exist at all."
Lin Wu thought for a moment. "Don’t know, giddyup!"
This wasn’t a journey, but a chase. The two horses galloped at speeds over 50 kilometers per hour, but this pace was clearly not enough to catch up to the startled Lin Meng. However, the horses had an advantage in that they could take shortcuts, cutting a straight line when the pickup turned. After a pursuit of roughly 15 kilometers, Sandstorm began to slow. Continuous high-intensity running caused its fatigue threshold to reach 50%.
Phantom shed Sandstorm and continued the pursuit. Lin Wu watched Phantom’s fatigue value rise from 50 to 60, 70, 80. Even so, Phantom’s speed didn’t decrease and it maintained velocity while weaving straight paths up and down hills and across rivers. When its fatigue value reached 90, Lin Wu pulled his horse to a halt.
