Kingdom of Corrosion

Chapter 564 - 279 Defending the City (Part 2)_2

However, after the Exploding Carnage were successively blown apart, the twenty or so Frenzy from the rear ranks of the zombies immediately began their attack, launching themselves at Nightmare and Maya from three directions. Nightmare and Maya burst-fired at two more Exploding Carnage before quickly retreating toward the triangular formation, with Snow Egg, Cotton, and Horse Soul providing covering fire. The Frenzy, like charging cavalry, kept falling to the ground in the hail of bullets, but the remaining ones charged forward without hesitation.

To avoid friendly fire, two Frenzy that were in a direct line with Nightmare and Maya got close, and Lin Wu shouted, "Maya."

Maya turned and fell backward, emptying her magazine. Not only did she dodge the Frenzy’s dive, but she also sent it flying to one side. Horse Soul seized the opportunity for a close-range burst-fire to send another Frenzy flying.

No sooner had the crisis with the Frenzy been resolved than more Exploding Carnage swarmed in. Nightmare and Maya could only counterattack and were once again driven back by the Frenzy, counterattack, and driven back again. During the two-minute tug-of-war, both Nightmare and Maya were injured and infected with the zombie virus. The good news was the external injuries were self-healing, allowing them to continue fighting without treatment.

In the fifth wave, the Titans finally made their entrance as a team. The wave started with twelve Titans and only Titans. They charged in teams of three at each of the four doors. As they burst into the building, the second batch of twelve Titans was being spawned for the fifth wave.

The back door was the first to suffer misfortune. Players separated by a fence managed to kill two and a half Titans, but the third one caused the ground to shake, knocking everyone to the ground. As the Titan threatened to squeeze through the small door, Lin Wu managed to find time for a follow-up shot to kill it.

The fifth wave, though seemingly terrifying, was not large in number and was actually a test of the players’ firepower and accuracy. Once a Titan stumbled for the first time, it could be continuously shot at because its movement became predictable. Therefore, as soon as a Titan stumbled, someone would keep shooting at it until it was killed. With Forest Wolf in the front and Barrett in the back, the Titans posed little threat to the players in the fifth wave.

The fifth wave lasted only 45 seconds, and the sixth wave brought in a mix of units. With only 6 minutes left until the end of the siege, the players had used less than half of their ammunition. Considering this, the chances of holding the Sawmill were high.
