Chapter 180 - 128: Waste City (Part 2)_2
Fifty meters away from them was a street intersection where three players ran out of a store, closely pursued by green zombies. The green zombies tumbled through the display window, immediately stood up, and howled as they chased after the trio. A dozen motionless green zombies by the roadside sprang into action at the sound, moving to encircle the players.
"There are zombies ahead," a man’s voice called out. They were surrounded on a road 15 meters from the cafe: "Get on top of the vehicle."
The man helped the two girls onto the roof of the bread van, then he fired at the zombies charging toward him. These zombies were fast runners. The man fired seven or eight shots under stress, failing to hit any of the zombies in the head. Seeing this, the man scrambled onto the van’s roof in a panic.
A zombie leaped onto the hood and began to climb toward the roof, where a female player shot it dead. Meanwhile, several zombies on the side of the van reached up to grab the players’ legs, missing by only a few dozen centimeters. Another zombie, without hesitation, climbed on the backs of its companions to reach the top, grabbing one of the girls’ feet and biting down.
Maya and Lin Wu saw the whole scene unfold. Maya said, "It’s hopeless." Zombies emerged from shops in all directions and ran toward the bread van, a never-ending stream. It was unclear whether they were drawn by the gunfire or had been hiding in the stores all along.
In just a short moment, more than a hundred zombies had gathered in the street. Although they had the advantage of numbers, more zombies kept coming. They went through doors and windows, ceaselessly advancing toward the van.
A bridge made of zombie bodies had been formed to the van, and zombies began to climb over each other, assaulting the three players on the roof, who fired their guns while jumping around. The trio had only one automatic rifle, and it was not enough to deal with such agile zombies. In an instant, they were overwhelmed by the horde, leaving behind only cries and screams.
From the moment the three players had fled to the roof, the entire ordeal lasted only 15 seconds.
Maya spoke softly, "Insufficient firepower, and they chose a spot with no strategic advantage for defense. It would be a miracle to survive."
