Chapter 109 - 98 Leveling Up
Night shift Lin Wu always found ways to disturb everyone’s rest, whether intentionally or not. The first ones to be disturbed were Stone, Su Shi, and Shana, who had to discuss sewing skills. Then Little Knife was disturbed, as the gossipy Lin Wu claimed he had encountered a Nightmare, which immediately perked Little Knife up.
Seeing that most people were not resting, Maya woke up the Soulless brothers and held a small meeting to change the day and night shift schedules. The reason was due to the day shift’s search area changing, they needed to pass through the Sentry Card before 7 a.m., drastically advancing their start time. Secondly, since they could use cars to fetch water, each person only needed to do it once a week. Lastly was the night shift arrangement, Maya and Stone thought it best to assign someone to partner with Lin Wu.
Maya offered two options, "The first one, Shana gets promoted to Deputy Commander, responsible for day shift affairs. I’ll go on the night shift with Lin Wu. The second one, Shana goes back to the night shift."
Lin Wu held up three fingers, "Third option, I go on duty alone."
Maya nodded, "If the first two options can’t be approved, then Lin Wu, you’ll have to go on duty alone." The result of Lin Wu being on day duty was a 50% reduction in work efficiency.
The difficulty of the first option lied in whether the day shift staff would support Shana’s leadership. As for the second option, it was a matter of whether Lin Wu would agree to partner with Shana. From Maya’s perspective, she would not agree to disband the night shift; Lin Wu’s contributions during the night were significant, not only because of the loot he brought back but also the extensive game information.
Stone asked, "Day shift, do you agree or disagree with Shana becoming the Deputy Commander of the day shift?"
The Soulless brothers and Little Knife looked at each other, no one agreed, but no one objected either, each harboring their own considerations. Stone then targeted Little Knife, the easiest to bully, "Little Knife, what’s your opinion and rationale?"
Little Knife answered, "I basically agree. But then the thought of Shana staying permanently on the day shift... wouldn’t that make me the brightest third wheel?"
