Chapter 435: The City of Eternal Night
When the elevator reached its destination, the obsidian stone door opened up widely, inviting us into the 15th floor of G’Henna’s castle.
We didn’t know what to expect since all the previous floors that we had seen were pretty similar—at least in terms of how they looked, so when the door opened, we were very surprised by the change in scenery.
The 15th floor was a town with tall buildings that were made of silver-colored stone, which looked quite different in contrast with the obsidian stone that formed the entire tower.
As we looked up, we noticed that the ceiling had been replaced by an artificial sky, and the only reason that we could tell it wasn’t real was that it was supposed to be daytime, but the sky above us showed a pitch-black night.
Arashi, Frost, and Vespera went ahead and separated from us, scouting the area on their own while we walked through the desolate streets of the town on the 15th floor.
"Are there no devils here...?" I pondered aloud, gazing at Nessa and Jackson to see if they knew something. Nonetheless, the two of them were as clueless as me.
The only illumination we had came from the fake moon above us. Even so, the town looked relatively clean. Of course, there was a lot of dust, but there were no signs of marine life ever growing there, which was something we could see on all the previous floors.
There were no corals, algae, sand, or dead fish—nothing, so I wondered if the 15th floor had been completely locked from the outside environment all this time.
After walking by a few edifications that resembled small family homes, we found a much bigger building that had a sign out front. However, we couldn’t understand the letters written on it.
