Chapter 434: The First Elevator
After talking to Trachios, I asked him if he could stay on the fifth floor to guide our forces through, allowing them to move quickly to the following areas.
It was a position where he wouldn’t have to kill or fight anyone, and it could also make some of our soldiers notice that some demons possessed real emotions.
Trachios happily agreed with our task, and after thanking him for his help, my group and I took the staircase that would’ve taken us to the sixth floor. However, we found ourselves in a hallway with different doors.
At first, we thought they were rooms, but when we opened the first door to check it out, we realized they were elevators.
Each of the elevator rooms was wholly empty, and they were pretty expansive, considering that very tall demons must’ve been using it to go up and down the tower.
There was no pad with the buttons to go to all the floors like a modern elevator would’ve had. Instead, there was a lever on the floor with a number carved into the obsidian stone, signaling the floor that it would take us.
After checking out all the rooms, we counted ten elevators in total, and each of them would take us to a different floor, going from the 6th to the 15th level.
I wasn’t sure if we should have taken the elevators to the next floor or the one that would make us skip ten whole levels, so we asked Trachios if he knew anything about it.
Trachios explained that when the portal for Xalathas opened, the Demon King cast a massively powerful spell that transported a large number of devils to the inside of G’Henna’s castle.
